Students at Southern Oregon University (SOU) say they will cancel their blood drive this term because eligibility to donate discriminates against gay men.
Students say that goes against the university's anti-discrimination policy and continues to label AIDS and HIV as a gay men's disease.
David Adkins-Brown, SOU multicultural senator, said that is a misnomer that needs to be eradicated. "From my understanding, it's a rule they made up in the 1980s and people are not up to date," he said.
Guidelines say males who have had homosexual encounters even once since 1977 are ineligible.

The only problem with their argument is that AIDS and HIV ARE primarily diseases found in homosexual males. More P.C. nonsense...now they're going to foul the blood supply. Pray that you never need a tranfusion in Oregon...SSZ

Note to self: Drive extra carefully while in Oregon and avoid falling objects. On second thought, don't travel to Oregon at all! Stupidity is contagious (along with AIDS.)
I'm so sick of this PC crap.

The students must not have read the forms you have to sign prior to donating. There are a great deal more exclusions that just homosexual behavior. It's done for safety, the students are idiots.

Anybody willing to take a chance on gay blood is insane!!
Sure is queer that the blood drive was cancelled!!

I won't be a bit surprised if I read one day that, since a cure for AIDS hasn't been discovered, that no other diseases are allowed to be cured.
Yet, these are the people who probably don't see a thing wrong with SARS quarantines.

"I know I've been yelling about it for years," said Daniel Conner, a senior. "I'm a gay man and I don't like being forced to lie to help people."
Translation: I lie to donate blood, thereby possibly contaminating the blood supply with HIV.
What a lowlife.

Now now, some of us here in The Peoples Republic of Oregon are just as sick of this silly a** stuff as ya'll are. Unfortunatley short of picking up stakes and moving (something I just can't do) I will just have to battle the enemy from within.

Compassionate liberal alert: If gays can't give blood then screw everyone that needs it.
To: MikeJ75
Wow, we demand you take our possibly HIV infected blood???
This defies reason. The lifestyle choice is inherantly dangerous and they demand that their blood which has a demonstrated high risk of being HIV be included or no one can give blood?

Take the blood and make the students drink it.

I think you're on to something.

I have an idea. How about TWO blood supplies, one by and for gays and their supporters, and one for heterosexuals who don't think gays should donate blood? When the first group needs blood, they can only take from the "gay" bloodbank. I'm sure a lot of liberal college students in Oregon would be more than happy to use such a blood bank.

I agree, I was going to give blood a few years back but was denied because I had been to a 3rd world country. I may not have tested positive for TB, but I could still carry it, I had to wait for 3 years and testing every month to make sure I was clean.

I don't have anything against Gay people, I don't care what they do or who they do it with. But the truth of the matter is that the majority of HIV/AIDS does happen to homosexuals so I'd just assume not have their blood in me and if that offends them, to damn bad.

Hey, if the faggots are going to protest the "no fairies" rule, how about the folks with malaria that are discriminated against?

Would any of these mindless PC drones willingly get a blood transfusion with blood taken from a homosexual male who's been active since 1977?
I wish they'd put their money where their mouths are.

Will these students accept blood donations from gay men? Political correctness is still runnink amok!
