Why much of the golf world is teed off at Annika Sorenstam She's the best. But that's not enough for her teed-off critics. Sorenstam steps into a man's world Sorenstam's the best. But that's far from enough for her critics But that isn't enough for her critics Sorenstam coming to PGA event with political baggage Sorenstam is coming to PGA event with plenty of baggage In Sorenstam golf brouhaha, questions abound When being the best may not be good enough She's the best. But is that good enough -- for anybody?

I was getting dizzy reading this but when I checked the source I realized it's the actual headline from the Austin Statesman. Yikes!

It isn't the poster's fault. That really IS the headline. Wow.

This is a very selfish act by Annika. It will hurt Women's golf if she does well, lending the impression that Women's PGA is second rate. If she does badly, it will hint that women cannot play 'real golf'. I don't give any pluses for this stunt.

I don't give any pluses for this stunt. I had not considered that point of view and have argued for her participation in the Colonial. In light of what you have pointed out it seems that she has, perhaps inadvertently, committed to participating permanently in the mens tour even though she will have to qualify. This will really heat up, if so.
