OWEGO -- Two of the anti-war protesters found guilty of demonstrating at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration facility are in jail for refusing to pay an imposed fine.
According to Lisa Guido, the judge ordered Peter DeMott and Daniel Burns to 15 days in Tioga County jail Thursday for refusal to pay about $160 in fines. Officials at Tioga County jail confirmed Friday that both DeMott and Burns had been remanded to the jail for 15 days on the charge of trespass.

All 4 of them were also just convicted for staging a "die-in" at the Ithaca Armed Forces recruiting center on 12/21/02. They have yet to be sentenced.
About 3 weeks after the first incident, they re-entered the same federal facility, splashed their own blood on the walls, and on the flag, and were arrested again. Those charges are still pending.
My understanding is they have also been arrested in D.C. for similar acts.

Good points and all the more reason why we can only hope the judge and the Tompkins County D.A. simply eschew the fines and order straight jail time for these repeat offenders from the get go.

Yes Owego is not Ithaca. These protesters usually find this fact out once the leave the city limits around here.
