he identified with malvo!!!
and, he grew up in an upper middle class home.
also, there's this choice piece, among many others:
>>Many people viewed his editorial pages attacks on Bill Clinton as unseemly.<<
hey, i've read the nyt print edition for years and i don't remember any "attacks" on bill. yes, there were concerns expressed on the editorial page. but, for the most part, the nyt went along with the democrat agenda, certainly during impeachment.
read the story. the guy's got some big problems.

It's not about class, Blair was part of the liberal 'annointed' like Raines and many of the other reporters in media. They come from decent backgrounds but they've been trained that it's their job to help the 'oppressed.'
"'I've seen some who like to abuse the power they have been entrusted with,' Mr. Blair had written in seeking the internship. But, he had added, 'my kindred spirits are the ones who became journalists because they wanted to help people.'"
This elitist mindset that reporters are supposed to use their jobs to 'help' people by writing slanted articles is imbeded at the NYT, WPOst, LATimes, etc., and the root cause of Blair and the NYT's problem
