My two oldest (both will be seniors next year) attend NC State, so we knew this twerp was to be speaking at this year's Commencement. Recently, our oldest son's Army ROTC unit at NC State had their annual Military Ball; very formal (dinner, followed by awards, dancing, etc.). There we sat, The Lovely Wife and I, next to the Dean of Faculty and his wife. They were very, very nice people.......................and clueless to the point of being painful. When the Dean gushed to The Lovely Wife about the upcoming Donahue appearance at graduation ceremonies, The Lovely Wife....... all stunning 6'3" of her (6' without heels) resplendent in a black Ralph Lauren formal gown, just a knock-out......... actually sneered and said "I can't stand that idiot.,", straight-faced as hell, God bless 'er. :) The Dean was taken aback, and wouldn't let up. "Well, most women really like him!!" To which she replied "Maybe, but I can't stand him and wouldn't walk across the street to see him, let alone listen to him."

It was a very, very proud moment for Yours Truly. :)

It sounds like SOME college students get it.

Two of my best friends in ROTC were graduating yesterday. They and their families were some of the first to walk out. Some of us DO get it, I assure you. :-)

"Since when do we execute retarded teenagers?"

I dunno, but we missed our chance with Donahue. He's too old.

The two people onstage, behind him, really look like they are enjoying the speech.

>>A graduation is a place to offer advice and wisdom for graduates concerning their future. It is really poor taste to use it as a bully pulput for political issues.

Make that "for FAILED political PHILOSOPHIES."

Lol, all I meant is that Donahue paints us as the ones who want nothing to do with liberals, when in fact the truth tends to be quite the reverse!

"Take a liberal to lunch," he said.

Sorry, Phil. You're too late.

They are already all out to lunch!

I remember the "commencement speech" that I was subjected to in '95 at UMass. It made me sick. If my parents weren't there to watch me get my diploma I would have walked out. First they gave an honorary doctorate to Harry Belafonet which was followed up by a hate-filled speech by Jessye Norman about how evil Newt Gingrich and the Republicans were. This speech lasted for probably half an hour. The only consolation was that my parents got to hear what I was subjected to for the four years I was at college. Prior to that they thought I was exaggerating and my education must have been balanced.

"Take a Dixie Chick to lunch."

Natalie Maines could stand to miss a few lunches. With her money, better that she should take me to lunch.

Carolina graduation is one of my all time favorite things to do, even though I am a State fan.

I just LOVE it when they walk in. Too much fun!

The protestors at NC State should have went out and cranked up the John Deere tractors they drove to graduation

Hey now! Watch that!
