Didn't Isreal get the "occupied" land during a war?

The superpower has a mission here. Yeah, but I don't think you understand what that mission is. It's certainly not to "resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict." Bush and Co. are way to smart to believe that's even a remote possibility. Our mission, simply put, is to placate the Arabs while we take care of the business at hand in the region. And that's what the "roadmap" is all about (which could take years). As long as the Arabs think we're doing out best to solve the problem, our job becomes a lot easier. Success is in the process, not in the result (of a Palestinian state).

I persist, because it is right and moral. Persistence is the only exit from tragedy. You seem to assume Israel will survive with a "screw you" policy. That is wrong. Israel is not the US. In the long term, it needs to find a more secure niche than that affoded by force of arms. It is a noble mission for the US to seek to find that nichev for an nation which disparate elements in the US wish only the best, including this certain near atheisic agnostic Wasp.

From the home page of Fox News Channel:
Sharon Cancels Trip to U.S. After Attacks
Israel Hit By Four Attacks in 12 Hours FNC
A homicide bomber dressed as an observant Jew blows himself up aboard a Jerusalem commuter bus, killing seven and wounding at least 20; Israeli PM Sharon cancels trip to Washington in wake of attacks.

I persist, because it is right and moral. WRONG! Get off your high horse and away from pompous moralizing.
Persistence is the only exit from tragedy.
WRONG! There is no exit from this tragedy. Not the way the Palestinian Muslims are raising and educating their children to make Jihad and kill Jews.
You seem to assume Israel will survive with a "screw you" policy.
WRONG! I ass-ume nothing. You are the mater of naive assumptions about Muslims who is fool enough to believe you can have peace with them. There is zero chance of peace with an adjacent Muslim population and less than zero when they are engaged in demographic warfare

F#$K the pali-pissant!

Well I am fairly confident that my vision rather than yours will be tested. If and as it is tested, you can kavetch. If yours is tested, I would be very nervous indeed. By the way, the road map need not be as whimpy as you might fear. If applied intelligently, the Pallies will get next to nothing unless and until they can show they can exptirpate their felons, and achieve a civil society. I agree with you, that a place that cannot do that, should not become an "independent" place with simply becomes yet another and more metasticizing locus for terror. What is needed here is tough love.

What is needed here is tough love. Torie, you've been watching way too much Oprah and Sally Jesse. I already told you what our intention is with this roadmap, but you seem content to ignore it.

If the roadmap is implemented, that will increase the likelihood that Israel will die. Yep die. The roadmap must be stopped!

"I'm afraid this is the beginning, not the end of this nonsense. "

Actually I think it's the beginning of the end for AQ. If they mount another successful attack in the US, I think that even the worst bureaucrats will pull out all the stops in going after them -- except the librarians who will still diligently protect the rights of terrorists to do their research, unmolested by the FBI. ( I read recently that the Library Association told librarians not to cooperate with the FBI, and some idiot town in CA passed an ordinance to levy fines on officials, who cooperate with the Federal Gov. re. the Patriot Act)

What's Oprah's weight these days? And who in hell is Sally Jesse? Is that Oprah's daughter, or a country and western singer, or some trailer park mistress of Carville, or what?

Israel had a "screw you" policy from before 1948 until 1977. They stood tall and were admired by right thinking people.
Since 1977, they started making concessions, and the US started dangling carrots of aid.
Things have gone down hill security wise since then.
Go back to the screw you policy.
The President should commiserate and if he doesn't he is not the man he should be. But for now I have faith that the President will be supportive.

Sally is some Oprah-like daytime talkshow host (without the wieght problem) who talks a lot like you do: "What is needed is tough love." Occasionally doing the People Magazine crossword puzzle supplies me with all this vital info.
But getting away from these vey series matters for a minute .....are we on the same page as far as the intention of this "roadmap" (as I outlined in post #22), or do you still honestly believe we're doing this out of the goodness of our hearts, and that we think a settlement is possible?

Sharon should cancel Hamas and Hezbollah...
To: Torie
?I didn't mean to suggest the road map didn't have bumps in the road. It is a hard journey, but it must by undertaken, Why? The road to Austwitz was bumpy too, lets not go there again ok?
To: Torie
...Israel will die. Yep die. The superpower has a mission here...Indeed that mission will kill Israel.
To: Beck_isright
Derail the terrorist war in order to bring peace about.
