In the wake of the deadly terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia this week, the State Department issued a nationwide alert yesterday for the U.S. public and American businesses to be on the lookout for possible attacks by suicide truck bombers in this country. Saying it had no specific information that a truck bombing of any kind was being planned in the United States, the department

All illegals, from the info I've read on this story, crossed the border indivdually and met with this truck in Southern Texas.

I didn't read anything about that, could you provied a link or a source for that? Thanks.

And to be clear, are you suggesting that it would not be easy for a trained, and funded terrorist group to bring in WMD/bomb materials, bio weapons etc into this country from Mexico, in light of the fact that thousands of *tons* of dope, and literally millions of people are entering illegally, by foot, trucks, boats, trains, every day from Mexico, as we speak?

Joe, they smuggled a truckload of live human beings almost 300 miles into the US to Victoria, Texas last week. Just how hard would it be to smuggle a dirty nuke? Not very apparently. Homeland Security is the second largest joke in the world. I'm sorry but that's the way I feel.

I concur. That's inordinately clear.

So what do you figure? I figure at least 100,00 American dead before this "war on terror" gets serious. I'm open to your opinion as your assertions on illegals has been 100% on the money.

These Mid East fanatics like spectacular events, like 911. That was like looking at a Superman movie, Hollywood couldn't have done better.

In any event if it happens, I would suspect synchronized multiple attacks, such as amusement parks, crowded airport terminals, multiple airliners being brought down, at take off with full fuel tanks, with shoulder fired weapons, movie theaters after the exits were sealed or covered, and I would guess, a spectacular dirty bomb or bio weapons going off in a major city in Texas or DC as personal pay back.

If well planned and coordinated well, it could kill millions, depending if bio weapons etc were used, but probably in the neighborhood of 50,000 dead, in one day of coordinated attacks.

The panic alone would create absolute chaos and more deaths. The resulting financial damage to Wall Street and the travel industry would last 20 years.....

It would be devastating.

Your probably right, it would take about 100,000 dead Americans before we get serious with our border security.

I concur but in a different way. I think it would be a varity of attacks (as feared by the .gov) using car and truck bombs as you describe but to stifle commerce. Grocery stores, malls, super Walmarts, etc. The experts have long feared this openly on the cable networks, but no one takes it seriously. I fear you are right though. It will be a disaster we will not recover from for 20 years. And it might be the trip wire to the civil war against the illegals.

It is in the drug dealers' best economic interest to help prevent another 9/11 or similar catastrophe. Ruin the US economy and the drug trafficking billions of untaxed dollars will be focus for change! Besides, there is a nexus between drugs and terrorism.

"Just how hard would it be to smuggle a dirty nuke?"

They wouldn't even have to smuggle in the whole dirty bomb, just the radioactive material, which would be relatively small and light. The rest could be made right in the USA. Chilling thought.

Hell, they could smuggle in the real deal. Imagine a Hiroshima sized event in Southern California. That would put the US into an instant economic depression for 10 years and crash the world economy into chaos.

One of my friends/neighbors is a truck driver.

He says that lately any time he picks up or drops off a delivery he must get his license photo-copied.

He told me this because he left his license somewhere in Tennessee. I thought this was significant news as I heard it today.

The knowledge of how to build an atomic bomb is pretty widespread, but how to do that without a huge industrial infrastructure, or how to put the bomb in a compact package, is not.

I understand the US mil has technology now that enables it to scan a vehicle for the presence of nuclear material. I hope it is being used on all sizable vehicles at Mexican and Canadian border crossings.

Yes, it is. Thanks to Herr Klinton, North Korea is selling that all over the globe.

"He says that lately any time he picks up or drops off a delivery he must get his license photo-copied."

I was in a car accident 4 years ago. The other driver (white, middle aged American before you infer) had a legitimate drivers license, or so we thought. No insurance (faked card) then when we ran the license to the address it was for a shopping center. It turns out that in Florida no one verifies the voracity or if an address is legitimate. For proof, just remember that 4 of the 9-11 hijackers had Florida driver's licenses AND were able to rent cars and vans.

Sleep tight.

Why bother? We don't scan for drugs or illegal immigrants, so why waste time looking for nukes, chemical weapons or other poisons? </sarcasm nerve gas choking off

The beam is shot at the target and the back scatter indicates what kind of nuclei are found. It's not cumbersome like passing the vehicle thru an X-ray.

Well, my friend is without license today, because he left it to be photo-copied, and in the hustle and bustle he forgot to take it with him.

He will get it back, it's just a matter of time. He can't drive until his license gets back to him. Legally, that is.

2nd Group of Trapped People Is Found Alive in a Truck in Texas(By the way this is from the New York Times. Other articles say the same. This is the only one I could quickly find.)

HOUSTON, May 16 — .....He said a decision had not been made on seeking the death penalty for Mr. Williams, who told investigators that he had been paid $2,500 to transport the migrants from Harlingen, near the border with Mexico.

- - - - ---

As I said they probably cross individually or in small groups then meet at designated 'Bus Stops' in Southern Texas to be driven throughout Texas.

And to be clear, are you suggesting that it would not be easy for a trained, and funded terrorist group to bring in WMD/bomb materials, bio weapons etc into this country from Mexico

Of course that possible. I was simply stating that this particular truck didn't pass from Mexico to the U.S. unfettered as you and other FREEPers implied it did.
