Oh yes indeedy - there was a full complement of airborne protectors. Two F-16's on each side of the President's jet. They didn't show them as the cameras were glued to the jet the President was in - but you could hear them, and John Scott, for Fox News, told us before the landing, that while there would be two S-3B's - the first one with Condi, Karl Rove or Andy Card, can't remember which, the second would have the President, AND that there would be a full complement of escorts. There were also choppers, which is normal, in case a jet goes off the end of the carrier into the drink. There was a lot of airborne power around our President, for sure.

That's very reassuring.
I don't have cable so I saw only what NBC didn't pan out to feature (read: just the CiC's jet), and that, just barely at the last seconds.
