France do not hate America. Their problem is they dream about the good old days when they were a world power. The only thing that left for them as assurance of their past glory is their seat on the UN Security Council. Hence, all that power play over Iraq, was noting but assertivness of their world position. Bush smashed their dreams, and I think that is probably is going to be the end of that stupid thing they call Vive La Diference?

Le Pen is no conservative and he hates America even more than ChIraq. He does, however, oppose the Islamization of France.

The term "right-wing", interestingly enough, originates in the seating of the French Assembly several hundred years ago. So that Pen can be truly "right-wing," that is, reflective of the views of the French Nobility of that time, and be completely non-conservative in the American sense of preserving the American Revolution and the values for which it was fought.

I've never been to France (took it as a language in high school though), but in my limited world travel to Canada, Mexico, and the lesser Antilles, I have discovered that the "conservative" and "liberal" labels have vastly different meanings in different countries (such as Canada) and can be totally opposite of what they mean to us in the USA. Very confusing too.
