Selfishness is a very destructive power, to ourselves and others. With it comes pride. When we believe we are sufficient unto ourselves, that we are better than all others, when we have no need to submit to any law, rule, or Higher Power, what do we then find ourselves doing? Nothing except what pleases or meets the needs of SELF. And I dare say, in that state, while self grows bigger and feels more important by the day, others' needs and expections become less important and seem more "absurd."
