I'm not really sure, but I do remember reading about the "coffin birth" and how the amniotic fluid actually acts as a preservative for the baby and that is why his condition was in such a better state than that of Laci's.

Was Laci's body found in a coffin or something to protect it from saltwater scavengers?

"Coffin Birth" refers to the spontaneous birth, if you will, when gases build up in the dead mother and the baby is expelled either through the pelvis or out a tear or opening in the stomach. Evidently the term comes from earlier times when embalming was not mandatory.

Supposedly, the MPD have a receipt for a 55 gallon drum, that may have been how she was disposed of, but nothing is known for sure in any of this yet.
