A N. Korean escapee, a former N. Korean missile project worker, intent on defecting to U.S.

came to S. Korea in '99 ... "secured an U.S. visa, evading S. Korean gov." "N. Korea imported 90% of missile parts from Japan. (missiles) were produced in 4 different factories"

A N. Korean escapee, who worked for N. Korean missile production, held a press conference on May 15, 2003, at Washington's National Press Club, announcing his intention to defect to U.S.

Revealing only his last name, Lee, he remarked that he met in the morning the Representative Ed Royce(R) and ask his help in expediting his defection.

Mr. Lee, who showed up wearing a mask, disclosed that, in the past, 90% of missile parts were imported from Japan and missiles were produced in 4 different factories. He escaped to China in '97 and came to S. Korea in '99. About his entry into U.S., "To evade S. Korean authorithies, he first secured an invitation from a Japanese broadcasting media and then obtained an U.S. visa in secret", he disclosed.

Mr. Lee said that he worked as a third class technician who was assigned to the production of missile guidance systems. He indicated, "He would talk to U.S. intelligence, if they want." He further disclosed that there are many things he did not disclose about N. Korean missiles. He is trying his best to stay in U.S., including a defection.

I do not know if this man went to U.S. just to have a better life or he fell out with his S. Korean handlers for some reason. In some cases, defectors are not allowed to talk to Americans by S. Korean authorities to prevent them from rocking the official government policy of "engagement." We do not know the details. But the fact that he sneaked out with the help of U.S. authorities and showed up at the press conference wearing a mask indicates that there is something troubling going on.

It is interesing to note that this press conference was organized by Hudson Insitute, the same organization which orchestrated the mass defection of 20 N. Korean elites, including the father of N. Korean nukes, Kyoung Won-Ha.

All in all, a troubling development for S. Korea. While S. Korea and U.S. are supposed to have patched up the difference officially, S. Korea is still out of the loop when it comes to certain security matters involving N. Korea. Bush administration does not fully trust Roh's government. I expected that this could happen a while back. Now it is becoming apparent.

No wonder Roh got a mere 30 minutes with Bush. This is preposterous. The North and South are going to be united in hell if they keep this up.

This was GOOOOOODDDD.....

Well, here (below) is the video link to a TBS TV report carried just tonight in Japan, showing the North Korean defector, Lee Bok, as he gives his talk (shrouded) yesterday at the National Press Club in D.C.

In it, the defector said the liberal/appeasing SOUTH KOREAN GOVERNMENT is doing everything they can to intimidate, threaten and pressure North Korean defectors not to reveal too much to the United States about North Korea, since it undermines their (South's) "sunshine policy" of engagement with the North.

He stated that nearly 90% of the missile parts for North Korea's missile program come from JAPAN! He said it was a common joke amongst missile researchers and producers in the DPRK that Japan was the country they were going to attack someday, and yet Japan was building their missile program.

The money flow from the corrupt liberal/appeaser Minju Dang Party in South Korea, to the nefarious dictator in the North, is unforgiveable. I hope this money scandal is busted WIDE OPEN by the conservative opposition Hannara Dang party in S. Korea. I hope people go to jail, liver ailments or not. And I hope there is a STOP put to further sellout to the North.

RE #6

S. Korean medias reported nothing about his remark that defectors are coerced into silence, including even so-called conservative dailies. There is a cover-up on this report going on, too.

I had better do my net-surfing in the morning. I keep missing your pings about Japanese TV video links.:) But thanks for your help. I will catch it next time.:)
