75% of Americans oppose bank accounts for illegals
TIME-OUT PROJECT ^ | May 15, 2003 | Project USA

Posted on 05/15/2003 5:54:04 PM PDT by CIBvet

A new Roper poll shows that 3 out of 4 Americans oppose allowing financial corporations to open bank accounts in the United States for foreign nationals illegally in the country. Nevertheless, Bush Administration officials, like U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, are coordinating efforts between the Mexican government and the U.S. banking industry to step up the practice.

Ms. Marin, who "entered" the United States from Mexico when she was a teenager, recently returned from a trip to Mexico City where she met with Mexican officials to negotiate policies favorable to Mexicans. As reported in the San Francisco Chronicle, Marin was attempting to "drum up support for a Partnership for Prosperity program meant to tear down logistical and financial barriers that make it difficult for Mexicans working in the United States to send money home."

Critics say this is just another example of the Bush Administration's support for illegal immigration, but note that the Treasury Department, under Ms. Marin, has been particularly aggressive in encouraging illegal aliens to remain in the United States.

Recently, for example, the Treasury granted $1.3 million to an ethnically focused financial institution in North Carolina to help it open more branches. According to the Wall Street Journal, the business openly caters to illegal aliens and provides them banking services.

Treasury officials have begun trying to sell the effort to help illegal aliens send money out of the country as "pro-security," arguing that the law enforcement community can better track illegal alien money if it's in a bank.

However, the effort is not backed by Homeland Security; it is backed by banks, which have a clear profit motive, and by the Mexican government, which seeks an incremental amnesty for illegal aliens in the United States.

The Bush Administration should rebuff the big corporations and Mexico. The American government has a duty to enforce American laws, rather than encourage foreign nationals to break them.

+== TAKE POSITIVE ACTION ==+

The first border death of the approaching summer season has now been reported, and, if this year is like previous ones, we can expect hundreds more of these tragedies before autumn.

Those who provide the magnets in the United States that lure illegal aliens across our dangerous borders carry some responsibility for the deaths. The Bush Administration, for example, rather than implement a firm and humane interior enforcement policy, which would largely end the border deaths, continues to put ethnic politics and corporate profiteering above the law and the will of the American people.

While the White House might get some political mileage out of allowing Rosario Marin, who, the White House often notes, is the "highest serving Latina" in the administration, to serve as U.S. Treasurer, selfish political advantages cannot take precedent over the public good. With three-quarters of all Americans opposing bank accounts for illegal aliens, the White House must reign in the Treasury Department no matter how ethnically dedicated Ms. Marin is to "her people," and no matter how much money banking corporations are making off illegal alien bank accounts.

Please call the White House comment line and say, "I am very disappointed by the Bush Administration's continued support for illegal immigration. Please tell George Bush I want the Treasury Department to stop pushing for bank accounts for illegal aliens."

Sadly, California is only 3 times and we are catching up soon. Our current governor at least has the common sense to estimate the number of illegals when discussing population problems. Gray "Stalin" Davis does not.

It was shared. With Jeb Bush. No response. With Senators Graham and Nelson. No response. With Pat Buchanan. No response. No one cares. That's the problem. Oh, and by the way, her case is in process now. She's going to be defaulting on $196,000 in doctor's bills. Now all of you know a little bit as to why the insurance rates go up. Because it pays to lie, cheat and steal if you are an illegal.

"so, you deny that the american birthrate dropped in the 1970s?"

No, I'm saying that it is not relevant to this problem. The problem is the eradication of borders as desired by the socialists in the world.

You're commentary only scratches the surface. When you see what happens in the next year, you'll get it even more. I feel sorry for our nation. I spent many years in the military and currently am what is known as "comfortable" thanks to planning, working, plodding and saving. However, the left and the socialist movement wants to take away my savings, my earnings, and my investments so the illegals can have their perceived "fair share". Damn them all to hell. I have worked and bled for this. Why should I or you have to give one thing to a non-American? No one has yet to answer that question. And very few of the politicians will ever look you in the face and answer that.

" Thanks for sharing this story."

Any time. It's true. You can look it up in the Sarasota/Manatee county records from about 1 or 2 years ago. She's a pathetic yet strong person. Imagine losing your home to foreclosure because you did nothing but pay your taxes and believe in the "system". It makes you think.

I always found it ironic that most of the, I love President Bush, members of this site, routinely ignore this ever escalating issue, just like the President and the rest of the politicians....

I find that repulsive, and the pinnacle of hypocrisy, that this never ending lawlessness on a national scale, is winked and nodded at or otherwise ignored...

Strange days....

but it is relevant.

immigrants do jobs that other americans are too good to do, for example:

harvesting cold weather crops, strawberries and orchards,
cleaning houses, motels and hotels,
working in slaughterhouses,
doing landscaping,
washing cars,
flipping burgers,
carrying for children,
etc.

it is also true that socialists want to eradicate borders.

yes, i read the book. and then later it was made into a tv show.

(that was before i threw my tv in the dumpster during the clinton administration, when i saw how the big 4 news shows were protecting the clintons.)

why do you ask?

The second Mexican War is only a matter of time. This one will be hard fought, because they've already infiltrated all areas of U.S. society. Next time, Mexico will start off with the advantage.

The bottom line is that our declining birth rate is not relevant. The truth is that those who wrote the manifesto over 100 years ago are seeing their dreams fufilled. Enjoy it. I'll be dead before it's implemented (hopefully). I'm an old fart. I'll enjoy the end of capitalism. Because I planned to retire. I fear for those who are under age 40 though. This will be a world that few thought of. Unless they read "1984".

you come down here to socal and look at who does what:

white and black folks do not generally do landscaping, carwashing, cleaning of hotels, motels, and houses, pick strawberries, harvest broccoli, celery, apples, peaches, nor flip burgers.

white and black folks, if they can avoid it, and most can, do not want to these jobs. as bill handel of radio kfi said, "my kids are NOT flipping burgers". what's that tell you?

immigrants do these jobs.

the zoe baird incident during the clinton administration revealed the contradiction. what people say, and what they actually do are two different things. while some people might give lip service to closing the borders, they do hire, cheap labor = illegals.

I don't have to. A friend of mine owns a ranch in Central Florida. ALL of his neighbors who farm use Mehican illegals to get the crops picked. DISNEY and UNIVERSAl use illegals to clean rooms (they'll never admit it, btw). There are entire small towns in central Florida where the majority of signs in the towns are in Spanish.

The problem is that America ignored this problem when times were good. Now the pendelum has swung. Instead of eradicating the illegal problem by sending them home, W has caved. He is gutless on this issue and lost my support. When amnesty is declared I become part of the 55% who don't vote and don't care. I'll just protect what's left of my property and interests. I would suggest that everyone thinks about that. Before you lose what's left of your "rights" for the greater "public good". Because that is where we are heading.

Al-Qaeda threatens 'stunning blows' against US, Israel

Read my post#58. This problem with Mexico goes beyond "immigrant rights" and all that other junk. This is a threat to your relatives and friends and mine. But W doesn't care. Not until 100,000 American dead bodies are buried will he.

dubya and other decision makers in washington are not going to listen to you. make no mistake about it, dubya isn't going to load up immigrants and ship them home, so that you can feel more comfy.

decision makers know that the birthrate fell in the 1970s, and that labor had to come from somewhere in the 1980s and 90s. and it came from all over this hemisphere and the world.

decision makers in washington are not going to destroy our economy so that you can have a lily-white, christian culture.

in sum, america did what what its always done, assimilate.

not all people went thru' ellis island, ny, legally. many people just came here. new orleans was settled by people who just got on boats and floated over from the caribbean islands.

now the birthrate is above replacement because of the higher births of immigrants. and, considering terrorism, obviously management of our borders is necessary.

Terrorism is the last of their concerns. Like I have been consistent about saying, until 100,000 Americans die, no one in DC or anywhere else will care. If we didn't freak out over 3000 and the destruction of the economy of NYC, nothing will stir this culture to react. Until a truck bomb from Mehico crosses, nothing will change. I'm putting my money on the terrs. The government will let your friends and relatives die in great numbers before the necessary changes occur. Buy flowers and funeral plots now. I think we will see more American dead before we see any Mehican evictions.

i would not say that terrorism is the last of their concerns.

but i do know from working in washington d.c. and for many u.s. corporations, that everything is POLITICAL.

what should be done, sometimes never gets done. for example, at one corporation i worked for a scientific researcher pointed out to me that a new, million-dollar, computer switch would not work. he gave me the notes and the math and i forwarded it to my boss. our corporation bought the new switch, and sure enough, the data problem that the scientist predicted, occurred.

why didn't our company make use of the correct information?
politics.

it's herd instinct with we humans. and the most political bulls and cows run the corral.

likewise, neither the cia nor the fbi discovered or stopped 9.11, when, as one fbi employee pointed out, the appropriate information was not forwarded to the top.

But I'm afraid the rules have changed. And until many of our friends and relatives pay the ultimate price, no one in the political world will care. Sad, but true.

i doubt that leaders do get that emotionally involved, for the reason that there's just so much that one can do, and one cannot carry everyone's burden.

it's television that has created a persona of caring.

notice how in the last several presidencies, especially since clinton's, that u.s. presidents have to immediately get on a plane and go to a disaster, and be with, and comfort the relatives, etc.?

the whole thing is closer to hollywood than reality.

i threw my tv in the dumpster in early 1994.

The polititians are doing everything possible to ENCOURAGE illegals. They want unchecked illegal immegration and it's for more than just votes. Can you explain as I am at a total loss to understand why they feel losing our sovereignty is a good thing. If not for votes than why?
