I predicted this would happen back in January: 3 GOP Senators against Bush economic plan in its current form

He like his dad is all about getting relected.

That makes him a self-serving Democrat, as far as I am concerned.

George Stefanopolus exemplified the mindset of the Dems when he expressed astonishment at the House Republicans' decision to continue the impeachment proceedings against Clinton despite staggering poll numbers favoring Clinton.

He said "THEY DON'T GET IT." But George S is the one who didn't get it. The Republican position--which is also the position of the Constitution's Framers!--is that the Senator is supposed to do what is right NO MATTER WHAT THE POLLS SAY.

Exactly... the sad thing though is that we have Chaffee, who usually rebels against the GOP, from a liberal state, yet, we have liberal RAT senators from conservative states like South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, South Carolina, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Indiana.

Senators rejected a Democratic amendment to repeal a 1993 tax increase on Social Security benefits by 51-49 vote along party lines after Republicans complained the measure would explode the cost of the bill and force removal of other components, such as the dividend tax cuts.

I LOVE this part... The Dems couldn't pass that tax in 1993 without Al Gore's very first tie-breaking vote. That IS Al Gore's tax on the elderly... and now they're beggin to repeal it... and are one vote shy.

Let's see, the Dem Veep's first tie-breaking vote was to tax the elderly, and the GOP Veep's first tie-breaking vote is to eliminate double-taxation of dividends. I wonder who the American populace will appreciate more come the next election?

Is that Ben Nelson from D-NE because he actually should walk across the aisle as he seems to regularly vote for the Bush agenda.

Not only did Al Gore drop out of divinity school, he flunked out of the Electoral College.

L-O-L!!! And he also tried to pass off a fake diploma stating he graduated from the Electoral College too!

"Does this make it a done deal? If so, this is terrific! Take that Warren Buffet! You and all the other CEOs who were against this better start paying out some money to the owners of your corporations or your stock will not do as well as it might."

Good point. It will also keep management focused on keeping the companies profitable instead of wasting time and resources conspiring with crooked accountants and crooked lawyers to rig phony financials for them to artificially boost stock prices for the sake of their options packages.

Can anyone explain what happens when the bill goes to conference? I know that the committee works to "reconcile" the two bills. How much latitude do they have? Does the "fixed" bill have to be re-voted?

``He sees it as an improvement over the original bill,'' Voinovich spokesman Scott Milburn said.

I wonder what scrap of bacon was cooked up for him. :)
