No, they have no such ties to Ohio. I've checked. Check again. Martin was born in Dayton in 1940, went to Chaminade High School (now Chaminade-Julienne after the merger of the boys' and girls' Catholic high schools) and flunked the University of Dayton entrance exam so that he could go into acting.
It's been quite a while since he lived here, but he is from Dayton. I don't want him back as a senator, but on the other hand I'm not happy about the RINOs we have now.
