Preserving Human Sovereignty and Independence In Responding to Extraterrestrial Intervention

Introduction
In a highly symbolic speech aboard the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln on May 2, President George Bush declared that large scale military hostilities in Iraq were over. Using the inherent symbolism of his historic predecessor who used military force to bring liberty to America's slave population, Bush was signaling that US military intervention had similarly brought liberty to Iraq's oppressed population. Contrary to widespread predictions of regional upheaval, the US had succeeded in its bold military intervention against the former regime of Saddam Hussein. Aside from the continuing moral and political questions raised by US military intervention in Iraq without broad global consensus, a key question is what relevance such intervention has from the perspective of the presence of extraterrestrial (ET) races on Earth? If there is a universal law of ‘reciprocity' governing the use of military force that parallels Isaac Newton's ‘third law of motion' where all force has an equal and opposite reaction, could ET intervention be more likely in human affairs now that US has taken such action? Could intervention by ET races on Earth occur for similar reasons given to justify US intervention in Iraq? What would be the implications for human sovereignty and independence were such intervention to take place?

Maybe their defensive capability relies on flying away really fast. The way these new-age types cast their messianic delusions to all things alien, it would seem that any destructive technology would not be implemented in any usable form on their craft. If I were a rational alien, :) I would harness the same incredible energies that make interstellar travel possible and create planet destroying weapons that could easily rip this solar system apart.There's bound to be other species out there as technically competent, so you have to be prepared. These "messianic aliens" would have to have a dark destructive side to survive long enough to achieve interstellar travel. Why they would be interested in us, to protect planet Earth's environment, bring peace to mankind, etc. It makes no sense, they would conquer us in swift fashion if they wanted and turn our planet into a strip mine. Protecting a planet makes no sense when you have a billion planets within your influence.

Interesting, but then why haven't we been invaded yet, because if you had the weapons (And you have to believe SOMEONE has them out in the infinite of the universe) these aliens could have blown us away any time they wanted....

The most obvious answer is because they aren't there. Another possibility, if there is an intelligent star-fairing alien race out there, it must be very far away. Maybe over 50,000 light years. This galaxy is just too darn big to even bother with us. There are billions of other systems to explore in our galaxy. They could probably find enough to keep them busy within a couple of hundred light years from their home planet. Another possibility is that they could have come and gone 100's of millions of years ago. They could've had a galaxy spanning empire and all evidence of it would have eroded to dust by now if they moved on or went extinct 100 million years ago.

They could've been Alpha Centaurians, only 4.5 light years away, but Alpha Centauri A is a star very similar to our sun yet it is probably about a billion years older. It's possible they have long since passed on or maybe we're the remnant of one of there colonies. I need a starship so I can go get answers to all of these questions. :)
