WASHINGTON - Major League Baseball's political action committee contributed $108,000 to 65 congressional candidates last year, much of it to incumbents who sit on committees of strategic interest to the sport.

Federal Election Commission reports show that the PAC gave to 40 House candidates and 25 Senate candidates, about 60 percent to Democrats and 40 percent to Republicans. Baseball also contributed $170,000 in unregulated "soft money" to the national parties in the last election, $95,000 to the Democrats, $75,000 to the GOP.

This is a bit distressing, but understandable. If Baseball's PAC is giving money to both parties to preserve its own self interests, they are merely doing what other PACs are doing. If, on the other hand, they are doing it because they love the RATS and hate the EVIL Republicans, I would start doing a major reassessment of my views on baseball.

That being said, it appears that the money distributed is roughly equal, not ideological, and not extravagant.

Note to Baseball PACs: President BUSH likes baseball.

Democrats are easily bought. No principles needed. Republican are bought on principles or is that principal. OK maybe both.

Where are most baseball teams? Big Cities(usually Rat). I bet that most contributions went to the places where the teams are.
