Tonight I thought Kimberly was great, Clay was masterful as always considering he pulled a difficult song to sing, and Ruben was all right. Also however Unchained Melody was arranged, it sounded sped up (excuse my grammar) so I thought Clay worked well with that. And how fun was Mack the Knife! What did everyone else think? MOderator, sorry if I post this in the wrong place.

All three are talented. Don't you realize that you're being sheepleized?
Reuben was off tonight. Clay's going to win.

My opinion over the past few weeks has been that everything has been slanted in favor of the black contestants.
From song and theme choices (Motown, R&B, etc.) for each evening, to the celebrity judges they chose.
Even the host, Seacrest, shows more enthusiasm for Kimberly and especially Ruben than he does for Clay.
But the fact is that Clay has the pipes and the other two don't.

Think you're being a bit sensitive. On another note..these people are just MILKING this for every penny, aren't they! Do we REALLY need a three day finale? Please. I honestly don't know who's going to win. But I guarantee you it will be a male. When they do the AMERICAN IDOL WINNERS TOUR, they will not want two women to be on stage. Do I think that the producers would rig this should Kimberly come out ahead tonight? YES.

Hi Hildy, I am not much of a music person, but when one guy gets "Vincent" and does what he can...then the other guy gets a Stevie Wonder song, which sounds like everything else he has done (Ruben that is) it makes me wonder too. I dont think anything is rigged, but the judges are so enamored of Ruben and he just does not stretch like CLay or Kimberly.

They picked those songs out of a hat. There's no conspiracy here. Vincent is a beautiful song and he didn't do a good job with it. Forgeting the words didn't help. But I believe he more than made up for it with his final two songs. Clay is obviously the more prolific singer. I think image wise, the producers will have a tough time with both, because they just are not physically appealing. Kelly Clarkson, on the other hand, had the basics. (Have you SEEN the makeover???). Honestly, they're all very good and will have a career. I don't know if being the American Idol is the best thing right now. I mean, when Kelly and Justin's movie is released, I think Kelly will be very, very embarrassed. At least the others are free and they will not be owned by Simon Cowell (Whom I adore, by the way.)

Agree that there is no conspiracy but it was, in my humble opinion, a sucky song to get stuck with. I just dont' care for it. Anyway! Vote!

The buzz on the Clay idolonfox boards is that Clay was asked by producers to sing an extra chorus to Vincent just as he was going out on stage---because they were running ahead of schedule, time-wise. So he had not rehearsed that version of the song and the change-up caused him to be off on his delivery.
Vincent should have never been in the bowl inthe first place. It's a downer of a song about suicide. You can't go from rah-rahing in the house to, here, stand up and sing Vincent.
Shouldn't this discussion be in chat? Just wondering.

I lurked there a couple of times, but don't you have to register to lurk now?
Vincent is a nice song, just not for this competition. On the bright side, Clay got to sing 'Mack the Knife'!! How cool!

I am so sick of Clay. He is goofy, wiry, and no one is going to want to buy his CD's. His voice gets on my nerves, at first I thought he sounded good but now it's to the point where I can barely even stand listening to his voice. Ruben is by far the best and has been since the very beginning, if he doesn't win then they might as well do away with the show. I'm pulling for ya Ruben, represent that 205!

I would agree with you about Clay, except that I heard some radio station play one of his out takes from the show. The guy has an amzing radio voice. The other 2 on the radio were nothing special. They also played one of the better songs from Josh, he had the second best radio voice (weird I know).
To bad it is not the 50's - to early 80's (before MTV) When singers did not have to look good. Seeing those singers for the first time was a real shock (I will never forget seeing Mick Jager or Arrowsmith for the first time)! The voices in the past were more distenctive than now.
To: Lady Heron
For that matter, how about seeing Meatloaf or ZZ top for the first time.

I am still shaking my head about why they would even put a song like Vincent in as a choice. And on top of that the crappy luck to choose that song out of all of the songs that were hopefully in there. I personally like all 3 contestants, and I think Simon was honest last night when he said this was a real contest, he had no idea who was going to win because all 3 were so good.
I told the kids it was rigged, the bowl that Clay chose out of only had Vincent as a choice, lol.
Also, if Ruben wins, I am concerned about his health. Did you see how worn out that kid was last night after doing 3 songs, with breaks in between them?
