I apologize if the comment offended you. It did not originate with me. I am only passing along, with some level of disgust, the observations. Both are indeed a tragedy and I too am at a loss as to why autism is a preferred diagnosis.

Apology humbly accepted. It's just that I've just returned from a visit with my autistic grandson, and it is simply heartbreaking to watch him and his mom and dad and two brothers and what they go through to help him function. You just want to reach out and unlock whatever is blocking his brain from functioning normally. You can tell that there is intelligence there (perhaps a great deal), but you just can't quite reach it. He's so beautiful and you can see his own frustration with his inability to relate to the other kids.
