Teen forced to pay cop for "fat" jibe
LONDON (Reuters) - Judges have ordered a teenager to pay 100 pounds to a policeman for "mental anguish" after calling him "fat", the Daily Telegraph newspaper has reported. The paper said policeman Jack Montague was on foot patrol with a colleague in Ulverston, Cumbria, when a drunken 17-year-old insulted him. Magistrates found the youth guilty of abusive behaviour.
"Coppers have feelings too, and I'm glad that the magistrates have taken the unusual step of recognising that," the paper's Tuesday edition quoted the police officer as saying.
The 5 ft 8 in officer weighs 14 stone, the paper said.
"Sure, I enjoy the odd curry and a pint or two, but I am not fat at all. That's unfair," he said. "I play cricket for my local club and coach junior football, so if anything, I think I am quite sporty."

Perhaps "fat" was too literal. Should have called him a "pig" instead.

The 5 ft 8 in officer weighs 14 stone, the paper said. Plese someone remind me again. Just what is a stone?
Out of all the imperial weights and measures, that is one of the few that never made over to this side of the pond.

The 5 ft 8 in officer weighs 14 stone, the paper said. 14 X 14 = 196 lbs. Husky, anyway. But Sensitive, as a good policeman must be.

The Brits do not share the same concepts of free speech as we do. It's one of the fundamental differences between our two countries.

The Brits don't have minimum-age drinking laws, do they? Even if they didn't, this teen could have been fined for public intoxication, but NOOOOO. It was for hurting the wittew powiceman's feewings.

In High school we thought we were very clever when wed stand next to a policeman and ask our friend in a loud voice:

A: Dirty copper!

He was only fined...a man in the US yesterday got 8 years for a kick to a police dog.....are we really any better?

"mental anguish" after calling him "fat",It's a good thing the perp wasn't a local thug with knife. The poor, poor bobby might have fainted. Gee whiz! If he can't handle a drunk teenager with a big mouth what's he going to do with real trouble?
