You can't subdue or dominate an armed citizenry.

If the Jews were armed in Germany in the 1930's.... If the Polish were armed....

England is in big danger as well as trouble now (by muggings and home invasion). The country is full of Muslims that want to take over the country by armed force if necessary and you now have an unarmed citizenry...

I would not want to be them.

Anytime you happen run across any leftist scum that is offended by your NRA ball cap, you may want to enlighten the clown to the fact the NRA is probably the only credible civil rights group left standing. One that is probably the most diverse not only in race, age, gender, etc., but in opinions. (oops....didn't mean to insult clowns)

"...you may want to enlighten the clown to the fact the NRA is probably the only credible civil rights group left standing."

I have used that one many times. When you state that the NRA is the largest, most diverse, and most consistent supporter of the Bill of Rights - they go completely thermonuclear.

Watching Leftist heads explode in a mushroom cloud of red mist is a lovely thing to behold. I heartily recommend the reader to give it a try at your next family reunion...

The NRA is the top political contributer of all the gun groups and the top lobby group according to Fortune magazine.

That means the leftists lose more elections and due to successful lobbying, the NRA can continue to fight gun control far better than the other groups. The programs the NRA funds also helps to promote the shooting sports to the non-shooting public. The biggest success has been the 35 states that have CCW. It stops the "no reason to own a handgun" debate with was the top political issue during the '70's.

The problem that remains is still the 95% of the gunowners who think gun control will never affect them or that crime is someone else's problem. It's taken 40 years for some of the gun owners to wake up to the fact that every gun control law affects them eventually. It isn't just "black" rifles or what happens in another state.

Funny, though, when I saw the title I thought it was about gun owners hating the NRA for being too soft.

Me, I join them all in the hope that at least one will get it right.

The left firmly, if covertly, believes that the state should have an unassailable monopoly on the use of force.
They envision the state as the engine for realizing their, again covert, goals of crushing us all into our slot in the socialist order. Hence, the NRA is regarded with pure hatred by the left as its tenets of and armed citizenry is in direct conflict with the left's vision of a disarmed serf state whose sheep subjects they can be bullied without concern over resistence.

In case of an emergency, who would you want to help protect you?
This? Or this?

...the NRA can continue to fight gun control far better than the other groups.

As much as I admire the NRA, I believe that they have capitulated far too often. Whenever the NRA says, "Now this is a gun law we can live with," another victory is won by the anti-gun nuts. For example, the NRA helped negotiate the Calif. gun law SB 52 which reauires every handgun owner to obtain a Handgun Safety Certificate.

When it comes to the uncompromising defense of the right to keep and bear arms, the NRA needs to take a tip from Emeril and "kick it up a notch."

And what happens if the gun grabbers have all the votes needed to pass all the restictions they want?

How do you propose the NRA "kicks it up a notch"?

It's all about who has the most votes to pass what laws they want. As long as the citizens of California ignore the assault on their Rights, they're going to lose.

If the one with the most votes counted, we would have racist laws, and sexist laws! The simple fact is you cannot pass a law that infringes on our rights.

Is the 2nd amend a individual right? Sure is, the very same wording to describe the 2nd amend "the right of the people" is used in our other individual rights.

If you are going to use the militia lie, there is no requirement to be in a militia to bear arms in the 2nd amend.

If you are going to use the lie all rights have limits. You can yell fire in a crowded theater if there is a fire. If there is no fire you will be punished for creating a panic. Did anybody get arrested in the last two deadly night club fires for yelling fire in them?

Hate groups such as the gun hater use lies like these to push for a limit or ban of our rights.

I never hear the opposition call the NRA "soft".

Gunowners may have stopped digging themselves into the hole but it seems like everytime they start to climb up the ladder, someone decides they should jump down again.

The California Governor's race come to mind.

Did you see the early versions of that bill? It was going to require about three trips to the police department, a live-fire test, and a pile of fees, but Ed Worley, the NRA lobbyist in Sacramento, worked to get it watered down to nothing much more than what was already in place.

The NRA has successfully contested another of the gun controllers' main weapon against private gun ownership: a government registry of every gun in America, with a dossier of who owns it, where they live, and any other personal data the gun grabbers deem useful for their agendas. The purpose isn't to fight crime. (Do they really think the criminals will register their guns or the "hot" guns floating around our streets?) When the inevitable gun confiscation order goes out, they want a record so the authorities can efficiently round up the guns of law-abiding citizens

Fact of the Matter is there is a record in the Feds. hands with all necessary information on it. The FFL Paperwork that you must fill out when purchasing a new or used gun thru a FFL Licensed dealer is readily available for their inspection. How else do you think they tracked down all the owners of .223 rifles in Maryland during the Malvo shootings last summer? Did you hear the NRA complaining aobut that? Any lawsuits filed because Federal Agents showed up at peoples homes or called them asking to inspect firearms they legally own? Hell no.

For 35 dollars or so, you can fill out a form with a serial number on it amd make of gun, send it to the ATF and they will do a search of forms that were sent in from Dealers that have gone out of business. And those FFL Licensed dealers still in business MUST allow the ATF to inspect those records at anytime.

Something the NRA doesn't seem to mind one bit. They like to whine about it during their yearly donation shake down. Without the political grand standing and their mass mailing getting the gun owners all riled up and beleiving the NRA is actually going to fight for something they wouldn't be able to host, whine and dine politicians, or built Multi Million Dollar HQ all while selling out our 2nd Amendment rights.

I send them my Life Membership fees, but no more. When they start fighting for MY rights I will resume donations. Until then it goes to the GOA.
