Robert Lee violated his soldier's oath to defend the Government and Constitution of the United States of America. He even renewed his oath of loyalty to the United States while already collaborating with the rebels.

Was his behavior trustworthy and loyal?

In the "Gods and Generals" movie, Lee is shown accepting a commission from the rebel government in the uniform of a full colonel of the UNITED STATES Army. If not for the magnaminity of the Yankees he would surely have hung.

If the Federal government tried to invade my state with force I would have taken up arms against them as well. I support our country and support our troops, but if the wrong person were in power and made our nation into a police state and tried usurp their power to control the people, I would have no problem with US citizens defending their homes and their states.

We encourage other countries to overthrow their governments, would you encourage U.S. citizens to overthrow our government if it ever got corrupt? What if we had Communist leaders running this country? The Democrats are working toward socialism and communism in this country, would you then support the right to stand up against the government?

If you really want to rub it in bring up the fact that Robert E. Lee was not an American citizen.

Boy...how LOW can you go...Robert E. Lee was revered even by his enemies....men such as Joshua Chamberlain, Horace Greeley, and even US Grant.....

Next to Christ, I would consider him the finest human being to have ever walked this earth.

Pitiful for you to insult this man!

yea,yea,yea.
Fitz Lee also "violated" his commission and
joined the CS Army. Also, about 35 years later he was wearing a blue uniform as MAJ.GEN,U.S. VOLS. in Spanish-
American War.
