rintense, I have been trying to think of something to say to you about this, but the only thing fit for public consumption is......Do you think he REALLY said that??

I mean with his sense of humor, that can be a bit on the edge, I wouldn't be surprised if he really did. Agree??

That is one short runway ---- d%$#^n scary looking to a private pilot of the fixed wing, fixed gear, single engine land variety.

This is the shortest strip I've ever landed on - 1300 feet. Saba in the Dutch Antilles. I see from the photo they've added a new concrete apron, and they may have extended the runway. When I last landed there, at the rollout end there was a rickety wooden fence with a small sign nailed to it: "STOP". Words to live by.

Of course, you've heard the one about when ol' Boudreaux was flying for Cajun National Airlines, and put in at a country airport, standing on the brakes all the way. His copilot said, "Sacre, Boudreaux, that was one short runway, hein?" Boudreaux replied, "Ah, yeah, but ain't it shore WIDE?"

I can see Bush saying that. It'd fit with the Texas size swagger and the thought it might get out and cause the Demoncrats a bit of "pain".

LOL

Balls refers to the round knobs on a jet's controls. "Balls to the walls" is pilot slang meaning the controls are pushed all the way down, ie., the plane is going as fast as it can. Bush was just using terminology the sailors were familiar with, saying he had the controls.

Too many words. Most pilots will simply say "Roger Ball."

LOL! I can see it too. Accurate pilotspeak with a double entendre that would drive the Dims crazy!

In addition to being a man's man, he is a clever one.......so I'm betting this is true!

That's nothing, last week I was talking with a neighbor who was convinced that George W. belong to a skull and bones secret societie club, and this club runs the world, because they worship the devil. I told him to lay in a large supply of tin foil.

Don't know if it's true, but here's confirmation of a previous statement (gotta LOVE him, and he sure kept his word!!)from the about.come urban legends site (www.urbanlegends.about.com):

G.W. Bush Quote

Netlore Archive
Description: Email rumor
Status: True
Circulating since: Sept. 2001
Analysis: See below

Subject: Bush Said

Hey Guys,

You probably heard President Bush when he said this on TV.. but in case you didn't. I thought it was hilarious. He said," I'm gonna be patient, about this thing, and not go firing a 2 million dollar missile at a 10 dollar tent just to hit a camel in the butt".

Comments: Yes, President Bush did utter a statement closely resembling this, according to Howard Fineman in the September 24, 2001 issue of Newsweek.

The exact quote is this:

"When I take action, I’m not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. It’s going to be decisive."

He was speaking to a group of senators in the Oval Office two days after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. "Winston Churchill might not have used those words, but he’d have loved the sentiment," said Newsweek of the Bush pronouncement.

I don't know about Churchill, but John Wayne would have loved it for sure.

One of the most delicious things about that story is that one of the Senators in attendance when he said it was none other than the junior senator from New York ..... Sinator Pantsuit herself.

Uh, hate to tell you this, but both W and GHWB, his daddy, belonged to "Skull and Bones". It's a secret college society, probably the worst kept secret college society in the entire world, but it's a secret college society. W doesn't talk about it because members are barred from doing so. I have no idea what goes on it it, but I suspect there's a lot of drinking grain alcohol and having sex with attractive women. Just a guess.
