It's bait and switch time once again. The Dems offer up this crap, and suddenly the current ban doesn't look so bad. When the Republicans go for the compromise--the renewal of the current ban--everyone will sigh with relief. SOP.

I believe you may have hit on the sordid truth that will confront us over this. I pray not, I pray, as some others have mentioned, that this holds up the whole thing and nothing ever reaches the President.

But statesmanship is about doing what is right and politics is about compromise. We are saddled with a bunch of meeley mouthed, self-serving politicians in far, far too many cases. They are more than willing to compromise fundamental rights to advance their own careers, ambitions, vices and ideology ... and thereby violate their oaths.

God preserve the Republic, and help us all to be as active as necessary in ensuring that preservation.
