The Medal of Honor PC games are cool. I have really gotten into MOHAA and Spearhead.
Unreal/Unreal Tournament kinda stole the thunder from Doom and Quake in the last few years. However, I do look forward to checking out Doom III and seeing what's new there.

I've seen the alpha release...leaked from last E3. Trust me. You will buy it. You will like it. You will get the hell scared out of you.
Lighting effects...texturing...damage modeling to objects...infreakingcredible.
I'm a huge fps gamer. MOHAA...R6 line...etc. But this one is a winner.

Wow. I never knew it was on the Apple or Macintosh. I remember when my father brought home our first family computer in 1982 - an Apple IIE. He had paid extra to have 64K of memory installed, which was more than we would ever need. :) My 1 year old daughter will never remember a time without Internet.

I doubt Doom III will live up to it's hype, mainly because the hype it so great that it dwarfs the hype to the Matrix sequels, Star Wars prequels, The Lord of the Ring movies and the X-Men sequel COMBINED!!
If you listen to some diehard gamers talk about Doom III at Slashdot.org, they make it sound like the release of Doom III is second only to the return of Jesus Christ (I NOT making this stuff up folks) and some even think it is more important than THAT!
Personally, back then, I preferred Duke Nukem. He had more personality and was more likable and funny. You cannot go wrong with a character that is a cross between the Terminator (Arnold) and Ash (Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness/Evil Dead). :)

Blood was a great game in it's time. Used to play that on a P-133 and it played great. Is that game even still around? Haven't heard anything about it in a long time, though I think there was Blood 2.0 version some time ago.

The Medal of Honor PC games are cool. I have really gotten into MOHAA and Spearhead. MOHAA is excellent! I have 5.1 set up, with a 150 watt sub woofer, and the game sounds very real (like watching saving private ryan).

The big question of course: will there be a new "Barney Doom" patch to go with it? >:)=

Depends on what you want it to do. The new FX cards coming out are beasts for heat. EVERYTHING on them seems maxed. The refresh rates and memory speeds are nuts. They are using FBGA memory instead of TSOP-II. This gives them a bit of a speed boost right there for both nVidia and ATI Radeon Pro (9500 and up). AGP 8X is definately the way to go. The next version of nVidia's cards, the 5900, is going to have an 256MB standard running at a core clock of 425! For DDR that works up to 850! They are scoring in the 20,000 range on Mad Onions 2002 benchmarks. Radeon 9500 at around 18,500. Haven't seen the marks yet for the 9800 Radeon.
Check Tom's Hardware for all the bench marks when the card hits. Not to mention some of the best reviews on the web for just about anything. Price Watch for the best prices

Ah, but are you an original Castle Wolfenstein fan? This actually came out before Doom, and as far as I know was the very first 3D first-person shooter. Some consider Ultima Underworld to be the original first-person shooter, um, spellcaster.
Personally, I'm more excited by Half-Life 2.

Doom was the first, and only, computer game I ever got addicted to.
I knew I had to stop when I started having Doom dreams at night. I'm not kidding.

I wish there were more hours in the day so that I could find some time playing computer games. I haven't played a computer game (except maybe Freecell during boring conference calls at work) since the mid-1990s. I played all ID games: Wolfenstein 3-D, Doom and Quake (the first edition). I know that many people look down on these games, but damn, they were a lot of fun. Really got my andrenaline going.

I've got the E3 hack on this workstation right now. The way the fat zombies get back up remind me a lot of the whole Resident Evil line. Knockin' 'em down with the shot gun isn't all that hard. It's when they hit you from behind that kind freaks you out. Been there, done that though.
Still can't hold a candle to UT2K3 for sheer action level. Plays a lot smoother as well.
I guess we'll see once they get the final product out.

I will get it when it's a cheapo $20.00 bargain bin item.. ..cause that's how long it's going to be before I can justify yet ANOTHER .5 or .6 thousand dollar upgrade just to play a video game.
Albeit, one that I love.

That's why the hot property with the folks I gamed with was the Ash.wad for Doom. Now Evil Dead has it's own game... times change, sort of. The best wad I ever DLed for Doom was the Alien wad, man that thing was good, my wife hated it because every two minutes I'd be yelling "jesus christ where'd he come from" or "they're everywhere". It set a nice high bar for when they finally did Alien vs Predator.
