That game was seriously ahead of its time. It was first release on the Apple 2 in 1981, two years before it came out on the Commodore 64.

I can't even play UT2003 on my current system, I get framerates of about 5. I'm upgrading this week though, and I'll give 2003 another try. I wouldn't mind playing against some fellow freepers, I've pretty much had it with playing online against punk-ass kids.

LOL! A practise in patience.

My first dial up connection was to a college BBS, using a 300 baud acoustic coupler modem. You had to listen for the tone, get it into the cradle and then not touch the desk it was resting on for fear of a disconnect. Then you got to watch the text draw itself on the screen.

Thank you so much for posting this! I've been waiting forever for this game. I'm hoping to be out of debt soon so I can get a top-notch Alienware system with a digital projector, surround sound, cordless mouse and keyboard. Of course, I'll be in debt at this point and the wife'll kill me.
