I believe your underlying assumption is wrong. There are many, many factors which determine how a defendant might go to trial on one charge before another one. To intimate that the police dog case took priority over "civilian" cases shows a lack of understanding of the Florida legal system.

We all have a lack of understanding when it comes to the Floriduh legal system. But that's a different day......

Well of course I hope it wasn't that crass. But prosecutors have political considerations too. Prosecuting an assault upon a police dog might look better in "redneckland" than prosecuting, say, a shoplifting or a check forgery.
