Poor Michael was dubbed a dork in a tank because he was just as dorky out of the tank. HIs dorkness was overpowering. The only other larger dork was Carter and how he got to the WH is a mystery! Back to Mike,,, a born loser.

Please don't forget that choppers rotor blades are very expensive, and have a relatively short life time compared to jet engines. My estimate is it's atleast $7000/Hr.
more expensive to fly a chopper than the jet President Bush took to land on the Flat Top Abe Lincoln. This shows how dumb senator SHEETs is.
To: FairOpinion
That's okay - we're lovin' it!
Even John Breaux on FOX today - was grinning when Tony ask him about the carrier landing. He said the dims should forget it because everytime one of them complained, FOX replayed the landing.

Call the CSPAN Republican line.
"I am a diehard Republican, but after seeing Bush waste money and use this as a campaign photo op, I'm voting for the Democrat!"

Darn. If the Washington Post and John Breaux get it, we won't see many more re-runs! I was hoping we could get another week of coverage at least!

The financial cost of the trip is of little interest to me. It was a trivial fraction of the money spent by the government that day.

Wow! Even the WP gets it! I am astonished! Yes they do, but they still seem to be playing the role of Rat consultant. My concern is the overtly military appearance of the civilian Commander in Chief. Why the Rats are choosing to make this a cost issue I have no idea. I guess they want to lose. After all, president Top Gun is building up government power for them. Perhaps they want him to stay in office.

Why are you insulting Snoopy by commparing him to Dukakis? ;) Well, Dukakis actually looked like Snoopy.
But on the other hand, Dukakis had a real hangdog look that the intrepid Snoopy never had.
No one would imagine Michael Dukakis flying a Sopwith Camel and challenging the Red Baron. He just didn't have the savoir faire to carry it off. But Snoopy did.
Snoopy could have carried off the tank picture. But Dukakis couldn't.

What was bad about Dukakis in the tank? I was too young back then to remember. The still photos didn't show the true comedy of the moment. Every time the tank swerved violently to show off off its maneuverability, Dukasis's head bobbed like one of those back windshield puppy dolls. Priceless.

you would think the Demonrats would get it. They don't because they think fundamentally different than us.
take Wellstones death-they played the phony wake -showed
all the booos and loved it! couldn't figure why people
hated the Wellstone send off--really my Demonrat inlaws
are still in shock as to why Mondull didn't win!!
I believe they really think Bush did something terrible-
Cost,Time, delayed port visit, something- and they can't
figure why no one else isn't on their side.

Although I admit that I enjoyed the President's appearance and demeanor quite a bit, what I really enjoy the most is the sailors around him...and the absolute glee I feel when I think of Bill Clinton seeing those shots!
The more often the shots are shown, the greater chance that WJC will have to watch them...at an airport, in a cocktail lounge, in an office of a media organization.
It makes me grin. A lot!
To: Miss Marple
I agree - I enjoyed his interaction with the troops the most - it was so obvious they were both enjoying the activity.

I'd love to have a tape of the entire thing. I delayed going to work until after the landing. I got to see him laughing and shaking hands with the landing crew and some of the pilots but I had to leave and missed getting to see him with the sailors. Someone could make a mint if they produced a tape of that day from before the landing until the speech. I'd pay for it. :o)

Around our house Dad, a WWII vet, forever after referred to him as "Herr Feldmarschal Dukakis"

wingnuts'nbolts-- "The only other larger dork was Carter and how he got to the WH is a mystery!"
How Carter got in the Whitehouse has pretty much a one word explanation- Watergate.
