If you REALLY care about the corruption AND actually want to DO something about it, check out the articles and comments detailing what crooked Ithaca officials are doing to poor Tom Pine and his wife, as well as, a productive, law-abiding widow!

It's REALLY gross and FREEPERS have apparently taken a few minutes to call in/E-Mail the sleazy Ithaca officials involved with the scam and told them in no uncertain terms they do NOT want those town officials using taxpayer- i.e. YOUR- money to harm productive, law-abiding citizens.

That is not always true. There are some individuals who have wormed their way into cushy jobs and issue orders without ANY accountability. Their sloth and corruption undermines our system from within.

Check out New York State Education Department's Office of Professional Discipline, Florida's Department of Children and Families, etc.

If you don't like our roads, go to Mexico.

Personally, I blame the French.

"I never gave elected officials a pass on this, but in most cases they are not the ones who decide what roads get done when."

The budget doesn't say here's $40M build a road when you feel like it. It includes dates to begin and dates to end. At the state and federal level, these dates have the force of law. Spend money on other dates and go to jail.

Actally, I'm pretty sure it's a union rule. If you aren't stupid, you have to at least act stupid so as not to make the rest of the members look bad.

It is not all those who work for the government, it is those the politicians put in charge.
They dont have to be stupid they just follow blindly like Democrats and March in lockstep!
Remeber government jobs are gravy and like anything free and not held accountable no one wants off that gravy train.

No, it is not just the politicians. In this case it is the
appointed idiots who got their jobs from the politicians. Yes, I know there are a few good civil servants out there; but sadly, most don't give a damn about those who pay their salary!

New York City is a perfect example. 250 thousand people work for the city, with cushy pay and benefits. They will suck the life out of that city unless Mayor Bloomberg grows a pair. Bloomberg wants to increase taxes across the board to balance the city's budget, when he should be cutting the city's work force by at least 5%. If taxes are raised again, businesses and the wealthy (who pay the lions share of taxes) will quite rightly flee to Connecticut, New Jersey, ANYWHERE but New York City.

Just to let you know, my "doing something" worked out; at least locally. It will be in Friday's Milwaukee Urnal/Sentinal. How much more do you expect me to do? Should I shoot road crews? They are just trying to make a living. Should I picket the state capital building? Gee, I have to make a living! I have done something. What have you done?
