[history]
Political consultant David Gilliard spent Friday tied to his desk in a Sacramento office building, blocks from the Capitol, his phone ringing at a constant clip.
Four days earlier, Gilliard became coordinator of a new committee called Rescue California, which is accepting money from millionaire U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, and any donors the congressman persuades to join a long-shot campaign to recall Democratic Gov. Gray Davis.

'No, I've got to tend to the people's business here.' "
Uh, can anyone seriously imagine Governor Clousseau actually saying anything remotely like this?

"I wonder if Darrell is torn over whether he wants to go through the sausage system we would make him go through," said Democratic campaign adviser Bob Mulholland.
Is this not a typical stratagy for Dems in dealing with thier opposition?!?

Another recall hit piece sucking up to the vindictive governor. Lots of that on local TV - the Democrats must be working hard!

Another recall hit piece Yup. And the fact that they are out making threats (Mulholland's usual gig) means they actually think Davis could get recalled. So they are running around trying to beat out the fire.
An "anti-recall" petition has no weight as far as I know. Someone who knows the election law or would like to look it up could advise me on that, but I think that once the recall petition has enough signatures, the election itself is the only "anti recall" petition that would have any legal merit.
They're actually nervous here. These are delaying tactics, trying to keep people from getting interested in this, and trying to run out the clock.

recall Gray DavisTotal waste of time. These idiots out here in California voted for this idiot. If they don't want a democratic governor they ought not to vote for one. End of story.

Agreed. Yaknow, the more this neocommie thing called the DemRatic party does its thing in the New Millennium, the more they seem willing to bare their fangs and spew venom openly and wantonly.
That is just one more piece of the multifaceted Legacy of Clinton - The Little Snake That Could .. Bold but flawed

End of story.Excuse me, but Gray Davis only won by 4 points. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those points were provided by Forest Lawn. If it wasn't for the constant crap in my life, I'd be out there pounding the pavement to get rid of that jackass...

"Gray Davis only won by 4 points"
Largly because Republicans didn't vote!
Parsky didn't raise the money he was supposed to and wouldn't release the available money to fund the "get out the vote" effort.
He did everything he could to see that Davis won and almost didn't succede.

Yeah, I keep forgetting about Parsky. What a backstabber. My future son in law is a democrat (I'm working on him), and he voted for Simon. I think Davis got out the vote in the local cemetaries, because nobody breathing likes him.
