I had bought my Dixie Chicks concert tickets before Natalie Maines made her personal attack on President Bush while on stage in England. (My waste of $66 dollars, I know) I went to the Kansas City, Missouri concert last night and although I enjoyed their music, and used to buy their CD's, the times they did talk, I did not enjoy their, in my opinion, anti-Bush remarks. While introducting the band, they said, "Some of them even like Bush!" and they made mention of "the last 2 months". When they played a song from their HOME a;bum, the one which says, "Swing me, way down South," they introduced it along with a vidoe/photos of various 'liberal' images and said they "understood every word of the song now after the last 2 months." Some of the images in the photos on screen were: abortion rights marches, gay rights marches, a photo of a sign saying 'ban the Beatles' and photos of Beatles albums being smashed, then Chicks CD's being smashed, and every so often written messages appeared like "TRUTH", "SHUT UP" and various other words. Not one time during the concert did I hear them thank the members of our armed forces for the brilliant job and sacrifice they gave in the last 2 months. Then, to top it off, the blonde haired Chick (not Natalie), I think Marty, was wearing a tee shirt during the concert which read: FREE NATALIE (A take on the FREE WILLIE movie, I guess). I could not read the back of her shirt, and I could not read what was on Natalie's shirt. They also thanked the fans for the applause and said something to the effect that they "always knew their REAL fans would come back." In the meantime, before I left for the concert, on the 6pm local Kansas City news I saw the story about Toby Keith appearing in the football stadium and singing with the former POW. It was a class act for Toby to appear. Also, the soldier sure did a great thing singing this while held captive to annoy his captors! I can't remember all of what was said at the Chicks concert, but this is my opinion and is as accurate as I can remember!
