Exactly it is no sense in it. Some mullah tells some reporter just outragious things and that repoter glad to dissiminate that stupidity for sensation.
The source of that stupidity tells me that is kind of provocation.

Is it just me? Or, is Putin turning out to be a major-league creep? Putin was a high ranking official in the former Soviet Government, an anti American, Communist. Why would we believe that he woke up one morning, and decided he wasn't a Communist any more, and wanted to be our friend?
