It's a Byrd, S-3B Viking -- it's Taco Bell's dog
Orlando Sentinel ^ | 5/11/03 | Kathleen Parker

Sometimes the best political strategy is simply to stand still and allow yourself to be attacked by the wrong guy.

snip

We are witness to such a phenomenon as George Bush -- cheered, regaled and not-bad in his Top Gun duds -- finds his form-fitting aviator pants leg in the clenched teeth of Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., playing the Taco Bell Chihuahua to Bush's Rin Tin Tin.

snip

As one-two punches go, the Byrd/Waxman sally was a bad day for nerds everywhere. Performing a whiney duet of the desperate, they managed to evoke images of skinny boys studying the quarterback's swagger for clues on cool. It's almost as painful to watch them contort in envy as it must have been for them to watch Bush, a stud muffin no matter what his other flaws, arriving on a testosterone bullet to the cheers of 5,000 sailors.

Not to mention the living-room applause of an appreciative nation not nearly as perplexed as pleased by the pageantry clearly intended. Who cares if it was a photo op? It's our photo op, which the other envy-boys around the world also got to see.

snip

By attacking the right guy at the wrong time, Byrd and Waxman not only have harmed their cause, but aided the Bush ascendancy. For now the president is not only a daring jet rider, he's a victim of empty criticism. The hero-victim doesn't have to do anything but stand still -- and no doubt fight the urge to say, "Yo quiero a Waxman and Byrd."

"may have started in ... defeat of 2002"

Actually, I believe it really started in 2000. Watching Gore twist and turn before the cameras to try to squeeze out more time and more votes, and then finding out the dems had issued a memo on how to DISQUALIFY the military votes - it left a bad taste in a lot of mouths.

Right after that, Bill Sammon wrote a book, "At Any Cost; How Al Gore Tried to Steal the Election". It was a time bomb to the dems - and further exposed their lust for power.

Then, we had 9/11. It was all over but the shouting.

Sorry, I goofed up on my response to you.

You said that Catsup Boy and his wife were described as being "like animals" when it came to sex. (paraphrased) and my response was that it didn't work for Gore and Tipsy to try to give that impression.

Waxman's so empty headed I think he might be retarded to some degree.

Byrd is, and always has been a disgrace to America.

Bush is a hero and the more they flap their gums, the more good Americans will dispise them.

And ... Laura is lovely and loves her husband.

Kerry's wife is not supportive and still talks about her first husband.

This choice is a no-brainer.

You know, when they announce whatever figure that they decide that it cost for Dubya to fly onto that aircraft carrier, they will most likely include the cost of food for all 5,000 men for the supposedly extra day as well as salaries for the day for all of them, electricity or whatever powers the ship, absolutely anything and everything associated with the ship's expenses for the day.

I missed the rest of the story because I was screaming at the TV, or rather the croocked beyond belief, rotten b@st#$%s dimocRAT slime they had on!

Did anyone else catch this, or were those who did see it were screaming too and missed it?

Bush May Be A Write in on More than one State Ballot
(late Sept. 2 Convention-now California?)

Washington Post ^ | Sunday April 27, 2003 | Brian Faler
Posted on 04/27/2003 4:38 PM PDT by ewing

The biggest question may be California, where election officials plan to begin printing about 15 million ballots almost immediately after the August 26 deadline-and begin mailing absentee ballots Sept. 3

A spokeswoman for the Secretary of State said that she did not know of any effort to move the deadline or how the state might accommodate the Rebulicans.

'Its not clear at this point,' Terri Carbaugh said.

'It certainly poses a dilema.'

Bush could be left off ballot
The lateness of the GOP's national convention poses a problem for him.

Contra Costa Times

SACRAMENTO – The Republican Party will hold its national convention so late next year that President George W. Bush's name might be left off the California ballot.

If Bush wants to avoid the risk of being a write-in candidate in the nation's most populous state, the Democratic- controlled Legislature must change the law or Republicans must move up their convention, an elections official said.

Secretary of State Kevin Shelley, a Democrat, and his lawyers are examining the problem to see if there are other alternatives, spokeswoman Terri Carbaugh said.

"This is certainly a dilemma," she said. "We are just beginning to look into it."

California's election code requires candidates to be certified 68 days before the vote, making Aug. 26, 2004, the deadline for the Nov. 2, 2004, election, said Bill Wood, Shelley's legal counsel. If a party has not nominated a candidate by then, none is listed on the ballot, he said.

Carbaugh said it's not clear when the nomination occurs. It could be when the candidate, in the primary elections, secures enough delegates to win, or when the party's convention votes for the nominee.

Republicans have scheduled their convention for Aug. 30- Sept. 2, 2004, in New York City. The timing, close to the anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, is reportedly a key element of Bush's re-election strategy, which Republicans have said will emphasize national security and efforts to thwart terrorism.

Bush is slated to accept his party's nomination on Sept. 2. The convention, the latest in the party's history, has forced Republicans to push back deadlines in other states.

Republican Party officials said they aren't worried.

"We expect the Republican nominee to be on the ballot in all 50 states," said Jim Dyke, a GOP spokesman.

The Democratic Party will convene in late July 2004.

I heard the repubs changed their convention date because of the Olympics.

They had to know this would present a problem with filing dates in several states. I don't understand why they would do this and jeopardize these ballots ...??

I loved the 'testosterone bullet' line too, kitkat!

This was a spectacular photo op to be sure, but what made it work was that it was not planned to be such, but rather as a genuine opportunity for a caring Commander in Chief to give thanks to his troops at the end of a significant battle in a long war.

It was perfect. The Dims know it. And they can't stand it.

Waxman daringly noted that the dramatic arrival "had clear political overtones," whereupon an entire nation gasped in shock and awe. How dare the president engage in political overtones. What next? Posing for pictures with soldiers and sailors?

Thanks so much for your post and ping! This woman catches your attention with her phrases, doesn't she? I was constantly laughing as I read.

After feeling depressed and repressed for 8 years, I am now about to explode with glee and thankfulness. As Rush says, the dems keep opening doors into their own faces. Like fine California wine, the MOAPOs is improving with age............keep on talking, dems! lol

I think Catsup boy's wife described him as 'feral.' LOL! Maybe she was referring to his hairstyle!

The way I figure it, if you have to talk about how sexy your husband is to try to get votes (like Tipper and her 'he's not stiff' line!), it prolly ain't so.

Now Laura, on the other hand, doesn't have to say a word. All she has to do is look at her beloved and smile that contented smile of hers, and the whole world knows that her husband is one sexy man.
