Baldacci administration officials are concerned that the accounting problem, which became evident as Chase reviewed the state's books for the fiscal year that ended last June, could jeopardize the state's credit ratings on Wall Street. How could anything short of a revolution hurt a state's credit rating? They just squeeze the taxpayers for more.

If the state(s) and federal budgets could be run by a stay-at-home wife/mother with five kids we would be out of this GD mess the incompetent bureaucrats have gotten us into in record time. Oh, it would hurt for a while, but we would be fiscally responsible at the end of it. And the affluent Senators don't want to "allow" us to keep more of our money. (I need more coffee!)
