My Great Uncle Beryl (who was a Colonel in the US Marines) fought in the Moro Insurrection. His stories about warriors toked up on MJ and morphine and wrapped in bandages first stirred my interest in Philippines history.

The very first town founded by the Spanish "way back when" actually bears my surname ~ that's where Philippine history began ~ when someone could write the stuff down. But that's neither here nor there. Admiral Morrison's reports reflect that Magellan (McWallace) knew that the world had been circumnavigated when one of his crew encountered a Philippino gentleman in a dugout who knew his same language.

Moslem traders had already reached the Southern Philippines by that time. Christianity arrived with McWallace to a place where Islam already existed. I think that dates the beginning of the Moro Insurrection.

Now, what was it you were going to tell me about the Marines, the Philippines and Islam? Was it another piece of your mythical BS?
