Yes and Estrada may never vote for another Republican after the way they handled this fiasco.
The far, far Right David-Duke-types excepted, "Right" and "Conservative" in modern American politics can be broadly defined as anti-statist and for the sovereignty of the individual in other words, the classical Jeffersonian liberal. The Right usually supports anything that constrains and limits government within the Constitutional framework, while also supporting a strong national defense.
In contrast, "Leftists" are pro state and opposed to the concept of individual sovereignty, except when selected individual rights can serve to destroy social cohesion (abortion, homosexual marriage, decriminalizing drugs, group grievances, and comparable issues). Why? If people depend on themselves and each other, they have less need for a big-brother government. The bigger, more centralized, and more controlling a government, the better, as far as the Left is concerned. Their fondest wet dream is the dissolution of national borders in favor of a massive global government.
By the way, modern Libertarians are something of a Left-Right hybrid. They want absolute minimalist government while also supporting most of the socially destructive issues the Left promulgates. This is why both Republicans and Democrats find something with which they can agree in the Libertarian Party platform. However, taken to its logical conclusion, the Libertarian ideology would lead to anarchy.
