Thank you for clearing this up. If the Koran is your basis for real Islam, you may have lots of conflicts/explainings:
1)Mohammad in vol 3:826 said women have deficient minds, in 2:541 he said women are deficient in intelligence, and religion, in 1:28, 301; vol 2:181 he said the majority of the dwellers in hell are women, in vol 7:33 there is no more harmful affliction to men than women. In vol 4:196 he said I ordered to fight with people till they say "non has the right to be worshipped but Allah"---That is essentially imposing Islam by force, don't you think?
In vol 9:57 Mohammed said "whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him"!(IS THAT THE REASON THE PALESTENIAN GUY WAS KILLED?) In vol 9:50 "no muslim should be killed for killing a kafir"--In other words, Moslems have a card blanch to kill the kafirs, and get away with no punishment.

I actually have no problem with peaceful Moslems, which are the majority of Moslems any way. I have problem with the hate dogma of Islam, and its intolerant attitude towards women, and nonbelievers.
The militant dogma prevents peaceful Moslem people, like yourself, from reforming the hate and violence against 50% of humanity-women.
Holding onto barbaric ideologies from the desert tribal life of thousands of years ago is very disturbing to people who want to progress with life as we know it. If you chose to respect your wife or your daughter as an equal human being you are doing that AGAINST the real Islamic teaching. So why can't you and other likeminded intellectuals DEMAND from the mullahs to reform this antiquated culture--The Christians and Jews reformed their old strict theologies. Do you suppose if Mohammed asked people to drink camel urine (vol 7:590), that medical prescription should be valid in today medine?
Thousand years ago if a Christian talked against Christianity, they would kill him as blasphemous. Today, they tolerate all views. Why cant Islam progress from the Dark Age too?

Wow,
wow,
wow!My head is spinning.
(1) Source for your claim that over 40,000 Americans converted to Islam within a year of 9-11? Also, how many Muslims converted to another religion in the same period or fell off from religion entirely? Also, how many more Muslims would have done so if not for the death penalty for apostasy?
(2) Islam as the only other proselytizing monotheist religion will always be seen as a competitor to Christianity, but we can live in peace together.
That's right, now just stand aside while we exterminate the pesky Israelis. Don't pay attention to what is being done to Christians in Sudan, the Philippines, Nigeria, and on and on.
(3) I don't look at all Christians as potential abortion clinic bombers and you shouldn't look at all Muslims as evil suicide bombers.
That analogy is wrong on so many levels, it isn't even funny. When did Christians (Hindus, Jews...) bomb Muslim abortion clinics? How many people bombed an abortion clinic anywhere, and how many were killed? How many of them claimed to be Christians? What Christian cleric praised or excused their crimes?
Note, I do not look at all Muslims as evil suicide bombers. That is not the point! The point is, what are you doing about the Muslim terrorists waging war against Israel, and against Christians where they are weak?

I do appreciate your attempts to address some of the points that I raised; however, it is obvious to me that you are on the defensive. That is simply because of FAITH, and fear of becoming blasphemous? The reformers of Christianity and Judaism got over that fear, and continued questioning the theological leaders in Rome.
I suppose all my quotes of Muhammad regarding women are simply fabricated? Explain the unfairness for women inheritance of half as much as men from their father? That is a fabrication also? You can explain all you want about the old days, and that women are being taken care of by their husbands; however, that is not valid in today life of equality, and women independence. A widow who is raising her children by herself inherits half as much as her brother; how unfair is that.
Islam will drag Moslems to backwardness unless they drag it to enlighten of the 21st century.

Well, then most of the muslim world interprets it in the violent sense, because quite a few muslims throughout the world are violent. It transcends culture - Far East, Africa, Middle East etc and is hardly limited to "radical groups" when the very governments are oppressive and restrictive of anything and anyone non-muslim. With a few exceptions - Jordan is more moderate, and Qatar sounds pretty gracious and open-minded.
But by and large, why are most Islamic countries either radically oppressive (sharia law is a real gem of a system) or striving to dominate through death and destruction? Why is there a nearly universal hatred of Jews? And close on its heels, a hatred and persecution of Christians?
American Muslims aren't the norm, they are the exception, and even here we hear about Imams preaching death and/or dominance from the pulpit.
Someone else on this thread said by their works ye shall know them - exactly.

It's not as if they (some of them at least) aren't telling us exactly what their intentions are:

Bobby also often posts some pretty comprehensive lists of Koran quotes on these threads.

andak01, why don't you - then - come out publicly and denounce those radical elements and the death and destruction they are spreading? Not repeat what everyone already knows (that they are radical murderers) but publicly, as a muslim, denounce them.

But that's just it - you raise a very good point. How can you personally, as a Muslim, reconcile those quotes with others posted on these threads? You have to admit they are quite contradictory.
