As I have said from the BEGINNING of the caviling about this, on FR, that Bill will NEVER even get out of the House. I was and still am correct. Tom DeLay has said so.

I stand by what I said to you. You do NOT know/undersatnd politics. Neither do you seem to care that your stance ( and your aren't alone here, on FR )ensures that your sworn enemies, if more of you prevail, WILL get elected and give you far less of what you want and absolutely guarenteed, at least 96% of what you don't want. Raving on FR and /or not voting for a candidate who will give you at least 60% of what you want and possibly more than that, does nothing. Snail mail helps. So does NOT getting hysterical about a rumor; especially one put out by the opposition, just to get you and other 2nd Ammendment rights people, who don't stop to think first, running away from President Bush. It's the old divide and conquer and it works well on emotional types.

And, dear, please get over your apparent inability to read what is written, instead of what is posted. Stating a fact ( you don't understand politics ) isn't an ad hominem. Neither is likening your way of posting your position, to that of a small child's or a wilfull teen. I didn't call names. I stated a correlary to your own words.

I certainly hope you are correct. The best soultion for all concerned would be for the AWB to die in committee.

But it is very early to be sure about it. Many backroom deals have, in the past, rescued other legislation that was considered dead.

There are over 200 DemocRATs in the house. Given enough Leftist Media pressure, bribery, and Hillary's 900 FBI files I am far from certain what will happen. A discharge petition requires 218 signatures and there are plenty of RINOs that might, for a price, sell out.

Tom DeLay may be sure, but I am not.

I have read the thread about DeLay.

Please read the calender. The election is aprox. 18 months away. The AWB doesn't sunset for aprox. 16 months. There is still a lot of time for another school shooting or two, plus a long term Leftist media campaign, plus all of the DemocRAT Presidential candidates presenting a united front on this issue.

DeLay is a good man, and will almost certainly try to keep his word. But, in the end, he is a politican, and if enough pressure is placed upon him he will bend.

I think that the best that can be said right now is maybe.

I suspect that they're actually hoping the AWB is extended. Pissing and moaning seems to be their whole life.

You claim that you are right, even though the issue is not settled and will not be settled until next year.

You have said that I don't understand politics, even though on this thread I have mentioned bribery, discharge petitions, Hillary's 900 FBI files and the FACT that nothing is certain in politics.

Please reboot your brain. Reinstall your wetware, but this time please leave out the hubris.

Notice how the media is suddenly pushing single issue voter wedges issues?

Seems like there is yet another story every day on how the President will continue to be in support of the ASW, just like when he initially ran. Nothing new or breaking about that but from all the press reporting, and vocal responses here on FR, you would think that the President is pushing the repeal of the 2nd ammendment (I can't wait to hear the responses to that).

Then there's all the stories about his administration catering to gays, going squish with the democrats, letting North Korea......etc.

And some folks aren't just falling for it, they are lapping it up.

I guess if the liberals can't try to defeat the President on substance they'll just have to work on hype and hope to incite the fringe into rebellion.

The issue IS " settled " !

You're now just looking for trouble / problems.

Hitlery! and the FBI files aren't being used and you can't prove that they ARE being used by her or her goon squad.

The is NOTHING " certain " in life.

Again, NO , you do not understand politics. You are a tinfoiler, a conspiracy nut, a looker for problems, and a refuser of simple fact. Hitlery! is in the SENATE. The Bill and DeLay are in the HOUSE! The House has a bigger and stronger majority, than the Senate has. The House has priority of the Bill.

Please get a brain; one which works, uses logic, and isn't nearly as susceptible to emotional overload. ;^)

Of course they are. They want, nay, yearn for, with every ounce of their beings, disaster after disaster. It's the ONLY time they are well and truely happy .

Some of these folks, on FR, hate President Bush and any wee glimmer of something they can say is " bad " about him, no matter WHAT source it comes from, they latch onto. The worse it is, the sillier it is, the more emotional they get. Not only that, but if and when it can be proven that the event isn't going to happen, the more certain they are, that it WILL happen.

It would be great if we could do a "War of the Worlds" type thread using some of the New World Order/Totalitarianism threads here on FR...we already have plenty of "quotes" that would be so perfect. Hollywood couldn't write better script.

I have decided that I am NOT voteing for Bush in the next election based on his attack on my 2nd Ammendment Rights. Even if the ban does not pass, I cannot bring myself to vote for someone who wants to ban Homeland Defense Rifles.

As I have stated before, I will vote straight Demo if the ban goes through and then never vote Repub again.

I will also actively encourage everyone I know at the shooting range to do the same. Bush should retire a war hero after one term. His attack on gun owners is such a stab in the back.

That's the bottom line, isn't it?

I call attention to these stories:

Man opens fire at university in Cleveland; one killed, one arrested
A man wearing camouflage and carrying a high-powered rifle...

The the expected finally happens:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/908830/posts
Man opens fire with machine gun at university; two injured
The Associated Press ^ | 5/9/03 5:10 PM | By M.R. KROPKO
A man opened fire with a machine gun Friday at the business school

The headlines from yesterday could be summed up

Man with a Machine Gun opens fire!

and it turns out to be somewhat wrong- but that really doesn't matter to the larger context- that context being "we have a problem with guns in this country and we gotta do something about it right now!"

And yes, I agree that the timing of these incidents relative to the AWB renewal is uncanny...

Political naifs, with blinkers on, are dog in the manger, cut off your nose, to spite your face radicals, who see every glass as empty.

They were NEVER as happy, as they were when Clinton was in the White House for 8 long, waery, disgusting years. :-(

What a lot of people forget and are not used to is we conservatives control all three branches of government. I think since we have never done it people do not think about how to use all the branches and not just executive. Who cares if the assualt weapons ban dies from presidential veto, dies in congressional committee, or dies in the supreme court. As long as it dies. So please take a deep breath and look at ALL of our options before you go off half cocked and say you won't vote for bush.
