I was actually suprised that the sailors on the Lincoln were not required to be in dress uniforms for the speach, they were all in dungarees and khakis. As far as polishing the ship goes, the Lincoln has a reputation for being fanatic about keeping the ship spotless, they didn't do much out of the ordinary.

You know what the tough part was?The media and the cables snaking all over.It was like herding cats! I heard the Navy officer say combat was easier because everyone knew his job and followed orders(paraphrased)!

Ships aircraft & uniforms do not look that clean after 10 months at sea.
Even with the C&C coming on board this still needed to be a working flightdeck. When have you ever seen that many clean & new flightdeck Jerseys at one time. I’ve had dungarees inspections already. It’s not what you normally wear to work.
After over 10 years in the Navy I don’t think the cleaning part has changed. All the E-1, 2 & 3s were scrubbing away.
