Boy did Michael Doyle from the Fresno Bee get THIS story WRONG!!.............

“As the family of Laci Peterson and her unborn son, Conner, this bill is very close to our hearts,” the Peterson family stated in a letter made public on Capitol Hill. “We have not only lost our future with our daughter and sister, but with our grandson and nephew as well.”

Support from the Peterson family also represents a considerable public relations coup for the conservative lawmakers who’ve been pushing the so-called Unborn Victims of Violence Act for several years.

It was the ROCHA FAMILY----NOT----the Peterson family.....get your facts straight, Mr. Doyle!!!.....The Peterson family probably agrees with the Connecticut judge that Conner was merely a "body part"....grrrr

Hope this link works: From the LA TIMES

Appetite for Laci's Story Endures

Snip its:

"MODESTO — Most of the media gypsies had moved on Tuesday in search of the next story of the moment. On 11th Street adjacent to the courthouse — which the day before was blocked by thickets of sound trucks, coils of electrical cable and rows of stand-up reporters made up like porcelain dolls — only Ted Rowlands of KTVU-TV Channel 2 in the Bay Area was left behind."

"There was Rowlands at his post, microphone in hand, ready to file his next report for an audience nationwide.

"I've gotten more response to this story than any other," said Rowlands, a friendly, youthful-looking man whose feeds have been picked up by CNN. "People are contacting me from Texas and all over to leave tips and explain their theories" about the murder.

And with the Peterson case expected to drag on for two years, it's likely the hubbub will not subside any time soon. That leaves people in this onetime cow town, now numbering some 200,000, with a few questions: Why Laci? And why here?"

"The ceaseless focus on Laci has been questioned outside Modesto as well.

Experts note that Laci Peterson is hardly the only woman suspected of being killed by her lover. Some 1,247 women were killed in the U.S. by intimate partners in 2000. Even the victim's pregnancy does not make her unusual. Homicide is the leading cause of death among pregnant women.

"These cases happen all over, all the time," said Juley Fulcher, public policy director of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Some say the answer is that Laci has become a cultural symbol — a stand-in for every woman threatened by a man or trapped in a bad marriage. Abuse can occur, the story seems to confirm, even in neighborhoods of backyard pools and barbecues.

Seems like something is incorrect in almost every article. Yesterday one article said Laci was 8 1/2 months pregnant when she went missing. Anymore I just roll my eyes...it's so very predictable. :o/ sigh.

Man accused of killing missing woman
By Elizabeth Hume -- Bee Staff Writer
Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Thursday, May 8, 2003
A Sacramento auto-body shop owner was arrested late Wednesday in connection with the disappearance of LaTrenda Mangram, a Sacramento mother of five.
Witnesses led Sacramento County sheriff's detectives to question Jerry Michael Smith about the 34-year-old's disappearance Friday, sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Lou Fatur said.

Smith, 35, was arrested on an open count of homicide after several hours of interviews, Fatur said.

Mangram's children were the last of her family to see her as she headed to the Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center's office on Park Avenue, where the family had been staying.

Her 15-year-old son told family members that his mother was going to have shelter personnel let her into her room and then go back to the car and get the children.

She never returned.

The children waited in the car for 45 minutes before going to their room. They found the door open and a lighted cigarette stuffed into the door's security viewer, said Ronnie McLean, Mangram's mother.

Detectives searched Smith's Franklin Boulevard Honda repair shop for evidence Wednesday night.

Fatur said the Elk Grove resident had some type of relationship with Mangram but that the nature of it was unclear.

At the time of Smith's arrest, Mangram was still missing.

"They're working diligently to locate the body," Fatur said.

Wow! Police were able to do their job without an onslaught of media publicity. Don't tell the media, we wouldn't want to dent up their self-esteem.

From the Fifth Amendment to our Constitution:

"No person shall be......deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law[.]"

Fetal protection at its best, notwithstanding that bogus Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court ruling.

What do you think about the fund set up because family members are unable to work?

I think I would have to draw the line here. Hardships hit a lot of us but we carry on. I do not want to sound cold but...

Good morning everyone!
A few threads back we were wondering when the Rochas decided to call off the searches for Laci. I've been hunting on and off for days.
I've made a little time line as I went along on what I found:
Jan 10- During one of the bay searches, divers found what turned out to be the boat anchor
Feb.16- Police Focus on Possible Role of Scott in dissapearence of Laci
Feb.18, 19- Police search Scott Petersons home for 2 days. They had a warrant, supposedly not given without real cause.
One week later....
Feb.26- Possible Break in the Laci Peterson Case...this is where Laci's family says they need a chance to regroup, and have no more planned searches. See post #18 ( LKL transcripts) and post #29 by Velveeta. ( I stopped there ... it was a long thread)
One week later.....
March5,6-Press conference. Case now considered a homicide. Post#33 regarding remarks by Ridenour made 3/7....Jackie and family very upset searches for Laci will stop. Ridenours statement - "they don't know everything we know"
One week later....
March 13-MPD searching bay near Richmond
March 14- weather suspends bay search
March 15- Bad weather hampers second day of search
March 17-Peterson searchers return to bay
On yesterdays thread, post#361, pinz-n-needlez brought up a very good thought. What IF, when the divers originally found the boat anchor, they also found a part or parts of missing remains but didn't say anything?
The searches for Laci continued, the police investigation continued, and in Febuary, MPD was really focusing on Scott and searched the home.
Phew....I didn't intend for this to be such a long post!

Does anybody notice that when the child was wanted all of a sudden everybody is pro-life. When the death of the pre-born hits home, everybody comes to their senses and sees the unborn as a new life.

Take note how the media will not use the phrase pro-life or even bring up the abortion issue in these articles.

Pray that more can see the light without events like this.

I think I see it...

If the mother kills the pre-born it's OK...

If the father kills the pre-born it's murder.

The fund was set up in response to inquiries from the general public asking what they could do for the family.
