Better show their colors now - to me, this is the MOST IMPORTANT judge of character in a president. The 2nd amendment is absolutely the one that has no 'ifs', 'ands' or 'buts' about it - this is critical. The nation is watching. Of course, what is always left out, is the absolute, undeniable right, when these gun 'proposals' come up, is that those who propose them 100% understand why the Constitution guarantees the 2nd - to protect ourselves against a tyrannical government.

Everyone can and should be speaking out on this issue. But where were the Second Amendment defenders back in 2000? All of Bush's anti-gun credentials were right there on his campaign website. He stated his support for the assault weapons ban. He made it clear that if Congress passed legislation requiring trigger locks on all new handguns, he would go along with it. Anyone who had bothered to learn what this guy stood for knew what they were getting when they voted for him. I'm not directing this to anyone in particular, but those who voted for Bush in 2000 can't pretend to be surprised by this.
