What did you expect? He's running for re-election. Would you rather have John F Kerry or John Edwards signing every piece of anti-gun legislation that crosses his desk?? Try dealing with reality instead of impossible absoloutes. And yes, I'm a Life Member NRA.

I expect him to be able to read the Constitution. He failed the CFR test and he failed the Homeland Security test, and if he fails the Bill of Rights test we might as well start the civil war now. The 2nd Amendment isn't optional. Any law that imbalances the power of the people in favor of the power of the government with regard to the possession and carrying of arms is too many. We have been patient for too long as our fundamental rights have been erroded. This is the last straw.

What you must understand is that the left does what the left wants but the pubbies do what the left wants also. Why isn't GW signing every piece of pro gun legislation coming his way? Would Rove allow him to sign if you all wouldn't vote for him if he signed this? Bottom line with me is I'm tired of the scew job done to me as a true conservative & so far the last 3 elections have forced me to vote outside the box. I see no reason to not break that change. This is what happens when you have no truly choices to pick - it's either chocolate or vanilla & put some ice on it.

Here's a better question: would you?

President Bush 41 was looking at coasting to re-election when he signed the big tax increase. Shrewd political calculation, that.

It isn't always a good political idea to pretend to seem like the Democrats, even if the RNC whiz kids think it is.

Gun control cut against the Democrats in 2000, and Bush is more popular now than three years ago. There is no reason to believe that shafting the GOP's 2nd Amendment constituency would result in a net electoral gain for President Bush.
