personnally I would sty away from Adkins, your depriving your body of basic items and you will pay for it.

Exactly what am I depriving myself of? Atkins recommends consuming vegetables in moderation and taking nutritional supplements. The only thing I'm particularly depriving myself of is sacharides [glucose, sucrose, etc. along with the starches built from them]. And since the body doesn't really need much of those I don't see a problem.

I agree with you 100%!

My husband has been on Atkins for 3 weeks and has lost 15 pounds (give or take a couple). FWIW, Atkins is more of a way of learning to eat better and sticking to it, not just a fad. If you go off of it, of course you are going to gain the weight back (duh). Carbs are consumed, they just aren't consumed in the mass quantities that most people take in every day. The trick is starting with low carb counts and then increasing until you find what works for you to maintain weight loss and your goal weight (once it is reached). My husband feels good, has more energy than he has in a while and after the first day or two really had no more cravings for sugar. We use Splenda and I can't tell the difference between it and sugar (goes really good with my morning java). I am not on the Atkins myself but I am becoming more conscious of what I eat because of it. Our refrigerator is starting to look more healthy on the inside too :)
