What's Gerhardt's problem with Poland anyway? Does he think it's still the era of the Third Reich? Oh...I forgot...yes he does.

"No time better than the present to start getting that experience. I'm proud of our Polish friends."Hear, hear. Besides, Poland beleives in democracy. Germany has proven itself not to have what it takes, and it's just as socialist now as in Hitler's era. Time for some fresh, freedom-loving, new blood.

"France and Germany do not find it easy to accept the Nato and EU newcomers as equals." Since when has France become an active member of NATO? I don't ever recall having them involved with my units in any exercises in Western Europe. I think they had a unit near Landstuhl as I ran into a few of their arrogant officers. I may be wrong as it was almost 25 years ago.

The notion that a Polish captain can give orders to a German soldier will take some getting used to. Old prejudices die hard.
"Have you heard a good Polish joke lately?"
Poland is not a joke anymore, and she is posed to become an economic powerhouse in the next decade.

perhaps, the krauts could be in charge of touchy-feeling with the live land mines..........

Yes. And talk to Poles in this country. You'll see how close to the right they are(and eastern-block folk). God bless American Poles!
Grom it all!

Perhaps we should e-mail the Polish newspaper mentioned in the article and let them know ordinary Americans appreciate their contribution. Maybe they'll share with their readers.

I like the idea especially since the Germans hate it.

France and Germany do not find it easy to accept the Nato and EU newcomers as equals. Neither did Napoleon or Hitler.

Imagine this....a great grandson of a Nazi officer, taking orders from a Jewish Polock! hehe

To Germany:
Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way.
The Poles are a couple of steps ahead of you.

We should cut way back on third world immigration and encourage more eastern Europeans to come here!

"The notion that a Polish captain can give orders to a German soldier will take some getting used to." Better a Pole than a Frenchman, I should think...

You are right but remember, old europe is currently led by immature geezers (Chiraq, Schroeder) who are stuck in their own delusions- the SAME delusions that have been the cause of problems in Europe for centuries.
I say to them, park you flaky sense of entitlement, stop whining, and GET OVER IT! We are in the 21st century now.
We spilled blood and treasure leading a coalition of the willing- i.e. TRUE allies- and now some German bureaurat is whining about taking orders from regional commanders from other countries, TOO FRIGGIN' BAD, GROW UP ALREADY!
