Ok here is the Hubcap Story.
PARAPHRASED
A few weeks ago, Bill made a comment about a Fundraising event that he was attending and I think Chairing.
He was at the Microphone, and an entertainment group was cheduled to perform.
He announced the group to come on, but they didn't. he announced them again, and they didn't, and he made a snide remark about how:
"He hopes they are not out in the parking lot stealing all your hubcaps".
People apparently laughed, however, some took it as a racist slant.
So, Boortz tried to make a link from that incident being the reason that Bill is so livid for the prom thing. trying to make amends.
And now you know the rest of the story.
Regards,
Joe

Not quite the full story. Apparently the theme of the night was a sock hop, and stealing hubcaps was a common prank at drive-ins back in the sock hop days. O'Reilly claims his comment was making a joke along the theme of the night. His detractors claim he was being racist.
And before anyone starts jumping on me for defending O'Reilly here, I'm just going to say I don't have a dog in this hunt.
