Palestine is a Greek word taken from the Bronze age Greek tribe called Philistines who were also part of the fabled Sea Peoples that fell upon Egypt in that era also.
Palestine would therefore should be applied more exactly to the coastal regions. In due time the whole region (then very Hellenized) was called Palestine. A geographic term which came to apply to ALL ethnic groups who lived within it. That is why the Arabs are called Palestinian Arabs. If Mexicans moved en mass to "Palestine" they would also have a right to be called Palestinian Mexicans.

Oh, I just know you like these threads....
I thought Palestine was what the Romans renamed Israel after they destroyed the Temple and dispersed the People. In order to be reminiscent of that vanished tribe that you referred to.
