Times have changed. San Franciscans were outraged by anti-war protestors who impeded them from getting to work - and the fact that some of the protestors pooped and peed on the front steps of buildings which kept people from getting to work. I think he might have a great chance. People don't like current mayor - time is ripe for change in America.
