Police officer newspaper comes under fire for alleged racist comments
By Kevin Quinn ABC13 Eyewitness News
(5/06/03 - HOUSTON) There are cries of discrimination and bigotry over a satire written in a police newspaper by a Houston sergeant.
The article takes what's supposed to be a satirical look at a meeting between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden one day before the attacks on the World Trade Center. But many Muslims say there's nothing funny about it. And Muslims aren't the only ones.
At least one Houston police officer worries what effect this article is going to have on race relations between cops, Muslims and Arabs. He says it strains an already tense situation.
"How can we expect people to respect us when we don't respect them?" asked the officer.
We're keeping this officer's identity secret because he's worried about repercussions for speaking publicly about the article which he says was written by an HPD supervisor, and can be construed as offensive to Muslims and Arabs.
"We're out there in the field," explained the officer. "This makes us all look bad, especially when we're trying to build up race relations."
The "Blues" paper is written and published by Houston police sergeant Buddy Williams and read by thousands of officers statewide who pick up the paper at their substations.
Williams says the column is meant to show how terrorists including Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein use the Muslim faith as an excuse for their actions. He uses words to describe them like "be-towel headed individuals."
"I'm offended that it's inaccurate," said Hannah Hawk with the Muslim Public Affairs Council. "It portrays the Islamic religion inaccurately."
Hawk worries that other officers will think such stereotypes are okay.
"It's extremely disappointing to read such racial rhetoric coming from a role model such as a sergeant," Hawk said.
Sgt. Buddy Williams calls the article satire. "To those good Muslims who are offended, I sincerely apologize. To the terrorists who are offended, I don't give a s---!"
The "Blues" newspaper is not in any way sponsored, endorsed or funded by the Houston Police Department. Sgt. Williams says his opinions are his and should not be reflective of anyone else in the department.

Okay, I am going to make a prediction. The RATs are planning to run the next election cycle on race and prejudice issues (even more than usual). The liberal news outlets are setting the scene. There has been a BIG increase in news stories on this subject. The RATs are going to bring back the Trent Lott controversy and make us fight it all over again (since they were so successful the first time).
The other thing, of course, will be the economy. We will be inundated with negative stories about the economy for the next year and a half.
Maybe we should plan an offensive of our own.

They can scream and yell all they want. America can not EVER be brought down by all the demons and devils of hell, before God's PERFECT plan is revealed, beginning in America. There is about to be a mass exodus of the wicked from this country.

Where is "proof" of the "insensitive" column? Why does the liberal media always put the cart before the horse????

Police officer newspaper comes under fire for alleged racist comments - muslims upset. There are cries of discrimination and bigotry over a satire written in a police newspaper by a Houston sergeant. This type of reporting "irks" me. The reporter fails to use the tried & true, What, when, why, where, who. It gives you no info on why the Muslims are upset or what? about the racist comments. The article gives some info but leaves you wondering? What are they upset about?
He uses words to describe them like "be-towel headed individuals."
Then you get this comment. Is this what they are whining about?
Just think how offended they would be if they went to elementary or Jr. High school. muslims upset.! I'm sorry but they can be upset. I don't care. I'm upset. Let them worry about me being upset.

Seems to me that the age old differences and rhetoric between Democrats and Republicans is getting more and more emotional, stronger, deeper, and more divisive than ever. It's beginning to shape itself into something ugly. At the risk of souding self rightious, this gap is actually beginning to take the form of hostility and deep resentment. It's as though the forces of good and evil are lining up for battle. Politics has always been rough, but it's gettin very nasty out there with all these outright lies and vicious attacks on conservatives. I sense that the Democrats see their party coming apart at the seams, and they are willing to go to any lengths to pull it together, lie, cheat, attack with half-baked "facts", whatevr it takes they will do it.

It seems to me that all Muslims are born angry, and frothing at the mouth. They are doing more harm to America than they will ever do good.

Apparently the PC police (not to be confused with the real police) feel that police officers give up their first ammendment rights even when they are off duty and they can't even write a satirical article in a private publication.
Hope someone posts the offending satire article on FR, so we can see if it really is offensive or just an excuse for the islamofascists to assault our police officers.

I think it unforgiveable that our congress and presidents have foisted their diversity agenda onto the backs of the American cop during the past 15 years.

Of course, we should. People need to be educated about the real causes of our stagnating economy and loss of jobs, and why we have little hope of recovering soon. One has to look at Congress and past presidents as well as George Bush if he continues on course with some of his policies (I don't mean his tax plan).
They also need to recognize that the Democrats, the media, our universities, and K-12 education system have bought the marxist-derived diversity/multicultural doctrine hook, line and sinker. And it is from this doctrine that the liberal obsesssion with race derives.
