It's the perfect Title 9 sport!

It's actually kind of bad for Title IX. Men and women compete equally, so schools would be forced to give equal scholarships. Then the sport does nothing to address the imbalance that king football has over the rest of the athletic department.

"I want to create a nationwide chain of learning centers with firing ranges and encourage parents to bring their kids."

Outstanding idea! Too few children get the opportunity to learn about guns and shooting (the truth that is; not the propaganda learned in school).

Shooting is my 10 year old daughter's favorite sport and she can hold her own with "the guys". Some of her friends get visibly nervous when she starts talking about guns.

How did my shoot go?

It didn't. I arrived, ready to help out as an RO. I'm there about 5 minutes and my hospital beeper goes off. I have to scoot over to SICU and by the time I finished there it was useless to go back to the shoot. Screwed the weekend.

Interesting that the championship team is in Alaska. I wonder if they actively recruit the best in the world to come there or if they just kind of develop into the best? I would imagine that it's a good place to practice, kind of block out everything else and do nothing but concentrate on shooting, seeing as it's in a remote place compared to the rest of the USA. I would have figured the championship team might be in a southern state like Kentucky or Tennessee.

Yes, to both interesting and actively recruit.

Here is an article of relevance: Brilliance in the Shadows - a UAF Riflery story

I found and posted that as a consequence of building this page at GunRaffles.org/links.html.

Examples: 4H Club with a Shooting Program, How to Recruit a Shooter (no kidding), University of Kentucky Honor Roll students that Shoot (no kidding II), Olympic teams, etc.

I wonder how to stir up interest to get more, or any, Olympics coverage in 2004?   In 2000 shooting sports were conspicuously absent in US coverage.  (Seems like maybe biathlon gets some in Winter....) Anyway, Point:  Let's talk it up, no matter how humble we may be.

Thanks for your support.

I found this article about a 4H Club, while building this page at GunRaffles.org.

Wishes of confidence to your daughter as she continually proves herself head and shoulders above those "visibly nervous."

"Wishes of confidence to your daughter"

Thanks!

She joined 4H this year and is impatient to start shooting competition (shot over 250 rounds at the range with dad last weekend). There are 220+ kids involved in the 4H shooting sports in our county (out of 1050+ in 4H). It's great to see such an interest in this.
