BS sensors red lining on this one. This reads odd. Waiting for further confirmation from NAMED administation sources.

If Saddam didn't have WMD, then he is stupider than he looked. Why thwart inspections if you have nothing to hide?

You know, I'm still waiting to see some real, genuine, authenticated, machine guns from Waco. Or drugs. Or verifiable evidence of child molestation. Or even the front door to the Davidian's home.

How did this article go from "The Bush administration has admitted..." to "Senior officials in the Bush administration have admitted..." to "According to administration sources..." to "The comments from within the administration will..." to the now singular "The senior US official added..." to "...according to the US official?"
Wow! All the way from "The Bush administration" to "the US official" in one story.

I would be amazed if the liberal press falls for this set up again.

Now, however, according to the US official, pre-emptive action is justified against a nation which simply has the ability to develop unconventional weapons. This US official is undoubtedly Jim McDermott.

Who admitted this? It sounds bogus, and if it's not, watch the news for a firing or resignation of a "senior administration official" this week...Bush doesn't treat leaks likely.
I bet it's some lifer in the State Department. Wanna bet?

To: Rebecca Silhavy
This is pure BS.
Is/was Saddam Hussein so stupid that, if he didn't have WMD, he still refused to open up his country to full and complete inspections with no reservations, knowing that his Ass was going to be thrown out? Wasn't he aware of the hundreds of thousands of Coalition troops massing on his borders?
Give me a break.

According to administration sources, Saddam shut down and destroyed large parts of his WMD programmes before the invasion of Iraq. Then it worked. Doesn't really matter how the WMDs are located and destroyed, as long as they are located and destroyed - even if only by an evil despot and his cronies scared $#!^less about getting caught with them. Nobody seriously doubted WMDs were there, the UN gave an ultimatum, the US went in to carry it out, and now the WMDs are gone. Success!

According to administration sources, Saddam shut down and destroyed large parts of his WMD programmes before the invasion of Iraq. This is a great deal different than the Administration saying Saddam never had WMD in the first place. Only a leftist would pretend that the two statements are the same.
